About this Cook
Just a woman who loves to cook. I started cooking when I was about 7 years old, my grandmohter taught me a few things, but my natural curiosity took over and I started experimenting with different recipes. Now I am proud to say that anything that I have ever tried to make usually turns out wonderful. I even have friends call me up and ask me to come over and cook them dinner on a regular basis. What can I say, I just love to cook!
My favorite things to cook
Anything, I love experimenting and trying new foods and recipes that I've never tried before. I'll cook anything, even if it takes me all day to make it. I just love the challenge and that it allows me to be as creative as I want to be.
My favorite family cooking traditions
No traditions in my family, we all live too far apart.
My cooking triumphs
When I finally got to cook for my dad the first time I made spaghetti. I was about 15 maybe, I've always made my sauce from scratch and it's a lot of work, but I've never had spaghetti that rivaled it (of course everyone's taste is different). My dad told me that it was the best spaghetti he'd ever had, and that I should bottle it and sell it, so I must have done something right!
My cooking tragedies
Oh god, this is embarrasing, although I'm glad I was only about 7 when it happened. A friend of mine and I were at my grandmother's house and decided to make a batch of what some people call chocolate macaroons (we called them frogs). As I said, we were only about 7 years old and I was just learning how to cook. My grandmother always abreviates her recipes, so when the recipe called for 1/4 salt, we just assumed it was 1/4 cup. Well, to say the least, they didn't quite turn out the way we had hoped they would, a little on the salty side. Of course, being only 7 years old, we decided to hide the mess and put the stuff into plastic shopping bags and threw them into the ditch before my grandmother got home!

Moose Milk
@ Cookin' Sailor I am actually Canadian and we've always used vodka and rum as well as the coffee flavoured liqueur! Of course I am from the East Coast and we Maritimers like our booze, maybe more so than the West Coast! :D
