Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: May 16, 2010
This bread is delicious! I made it exactly as written, except I used a little more flour to make the dough come together. This one's definitely a keeper. Thanks for a great recipe!

Sandy's Casserole

This was a delicious, easy casserole. I followed another reviewer's advice and covered it with foil to make sure the noodles were thoroughly cooked. Very good!

Basic Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
This was a very good basic recipe but needed a little more flavor, so I added 1/4 tsp. of seasoned salt and 1/2 c. of grapes. I also used lite mayo.

Spinach Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
This was a very good base recipe. I followed it exactly and found it to be a little bland, so I added 1 tsp. of salt, which did improve the flavor. Next time, I'll reverse the amounts of broth and water as others suggested.

Holiday Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
This is one of the best chicken salads I've ever had! The mayo is not overpowering and the combination of spices is just right. I cut the recipe in half and substituted walnuts for the pecans. Definitely a keeper!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2008
Excellent recipe and very easy, too! I followed it exactly and had plenty of marinade leftover. It would easily have been enough for 8 chicken breasts. Next time, I might try marinating overnight.

Penne Pasta with Cannellini Beans and Escarole

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
This is a very good, simple recipe. I followed it exactly, except I only used 1/2 of a 13oz bag of chopped escarole, which was still plenty. Great for a simple dinner or a side dish - and very healthy, too!

Black-Eyed Pea Salad

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
This is a very good, colorful, nutritious salad! I followed the recipe exactly except that I used 1 extra large red pepper instead of 2 medium peppers and dried parsley instead of fresh. The flavors blend nicely together and it is very refreshing on a warm day.

Pat's Award Winning Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
I have to agree with the other reviewers that this cake was fantastic! I made it for my mother-in-law's birthday and it was a hit! It's definitely one of the easiest carrot cakes I've ever made. I skipped the frosting & gave it a light dusting of powdered sugar instead. It was still plenty sweet, moist and delicious. Thanks for a great recipe!

Red, White and Blue Ambrosia

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2007
Wow! This was so good I couldn't stop eating it! I followed the recipe exactly and it was delicious! Maybe next time, I'll use light cream instead of heavy cream to lower the fat content. I wouldn't change anything else! Update: I tried it with light cream and it just didn't have the same thick texture needed for this recipe. That's ok - it's definitely worth the calories!

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2007
This bread was very tasty! I didn't have any fresh lemons on hand so I used bottled lemon juice and lime zest, which was very good. Also, I thought the bread was sweet enough without the glaze so I left it off. It tasted even better the next day, once the flavors had a chance to develop.

Linguine with Peppers and Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
Wow! What a wonderfully easy & delicious meal! I followed the recipe pretty closely, except I used turkey sausage, 1 green pepper & a 2 oz jar of sliced pimientos. I also used freshly grated parmesan, which does make a difference in taste. The wine added a nice subtle flavor. I will definitely be making this again. Thanks for a great recipe!

Betsy's Mandarin Orange Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
What a great salad! I made it yesterday for the Super Bowl and my mother-in-law commented that it was one of the best salads she's had in a long time. I especially liked the flavor combination of the caramelized almonds and oranges. I did use clementines instead of canned. I also cut back on the red onion. I only used about 1/4 of the onion because I think using the whole onion would have been too overpowering. I'll definitely be making this again.

Pasta with Hot Sausage Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
This is a wonderfully easy, delicious recipe! I followed it pretty closely, except I used turkey sausage to reduce fat and I left out the capers, because I didn't have any. I drained the whole tomatoes and then mashed them before adding to the sausage. I reduced the pepper(s) to 1/8 tsp. each because my husband is not a fan of spicy food, but the wine & spices still added plenty of flavor. I let it simmer for about an hour and it made a thick, rich sauce. I'll definitely be making this again. Thanks for sharing!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2006
This is a wonderfully easy recipe! I followed it exactly, except I removed the chicken from the pan at the end and let the sauce cook down for another 10 minutes, which made it a little thicker. It was delicious and even rivalled the Chicken Marsala at our favorite Italian restaurant! I'll definitely be making this again!

Orange Pecan French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2006
Wow!! What a great recipe! It's so convenient to prepare it the night before and pop it in the oven the next morning. The combination of orange, brown sugar & pecans was really unique and delicious. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used Italian bread instead of French. I wouldn't change anything else!

Almond Maple Granola

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2006
This recipe went over really well with my family when they came to visit for Christmas. Everyone loved it! It's not too sweet and really delicious! I did cut back on the coconut and only used a 7 oz. package, which was still plenty. I wouldn't change anything else. Thanks for a great recipe!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2006
This recipe definitely needs to be adjusted. 2 teaspoons of milk was not nearly enough - I probably used close to 2 tablespoons. I also used a little more corn syrup than called for until the consistency was thin enough to spread with a knife. Once I got it right, I added green food coloring and used a knife to drizzle it over the cookies. It was prettier than I expected and hardened up nicely.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2006
The flavor and texture of these cookies is really delicious, better than most sugar cookies I've tried. I followed the recipe exactly and did refrigerate the dough overnight. When I rolled it out, it softened to room temperature too quickly and didn't hold the sharp edges of the cookie shapes as well as I would have liked. Still a pretty good recipe, though!
