About this Cook
I'm 19 years old with a huge interest in food. I love to cook, bake, read about food, grocery shop, and of course, eat. I'm currently in college studying business and communications, but also looking into culinary school when I graduate. I'm currently living on my own so I'm always on the lookout for fast, easy, and delicious recipes that are budget friendly, can be reheated, and fit my healthy lifestyle. I do, however, love a good dessert every once in awhile too.
My favorite things to cook
I'm always looking for new things to satisfy my hunger but I usually cook healthy meals. Chicken is a household staple of mine and I always have some in stock. I also love cooking with cilantro; it has such a distinct, vibrant taste and works great as a garnish. And coming from an Asian background, I do incorporate a lot of soy sauce and sesame oil in my cooking. I'm also a huge fan of soups. I usually make a big batch of soups on Sundays and then freeze the leftovers so I can have them for dinner when I'm too busy studying.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love having hot pot with my family every Saturday.
My cooking triumphs
I still have so much to learn, but as of recently, I think I have finally found the perfect sugar cookie recipe. I just need to brush up on my decorating skills!
My cooking tragedies
I can't bake cakes. They always turn out tasting like cornbread.

Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon
Made this last night for dinner and it was fantastic! I pretty much followed the recipe exactly except I used turkey bacon and omitted the tomatoes as I did not have any on hand. Topped this with some fresh parmesan cheese and served with crusty bread.

Banana Banana Bread
I made this as a Christmas favor one year and it turned out great. Bread was super moist and tons of banana flavor. I followed the recipe accordingly.

Apple Banana Cupcakes
This was exactly everything I wanted an apple and banana "cupcake" (I would call it a muffin) to be. I didn't have shortening so I just substituted vegetable oil for that. Didn't have buttermilk either so I used 1/4 cup of milk and added a little bit of vinegar to it. Diced the apples instead of shredding so that there's still a nice texture to the muffin. This recipe comes out super moist and delicious.
