Spiced Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
This is more a soup than a stew, but it is still one of the best recipes I have ever tried. I made this a year ago and have been dreaming about it ever since. The only change I made was using fresh carrot and potato instead of frozen veggies. I can't wait to make this again!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake Cookies

SO EASY, SO FAST, SO GOOD! I didn't have any nuts, but these cookies were just the thing to calm a serious chocolate craving, and I whipped them up in no time at all!

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
YUM! I have also tried Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce, but I much prefer the flavor of this recipe, and the asparagus stay much more moist.

Great cookies! Great flavor, easy to roll out, soft but held their shape, and looked great with Sugar Cookie Icing from this site!

Extra Easy Hummus

Reviewed: May 14, 2007
Wow! This recipe was great for me since I can't get tahini where I live. I started with 3 cloves of garlic and 1tsp cumin, and then alternately added lemon juice, cumin, cayenne pepper and paprika until it fit my tastes. Then I let it sit overnight for the flavors to develop. I served it with homemade chips made from flour tortillas: brush a tortilla with olive oil, then sprinkle garlic salt and parmesan cheese, cut into 6-8 wedges, and bake until golden. My boyfriend ate almost the whole thing in one sitting!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2006
I made this last year and was glad I found the same recipe again. It's so easy to make and play around with - you can add whatever you want and it'll turn out great...but don't forget the shredded cheese on top! Goes great with homemade whole wheat bread or cheese quesadillas!

Easy Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
Good, simple muffin recipe. I added 1/2 tsp. vanilla, a little extra sugar, and a dash of cinnamon (because I just couldn't help myself), but they were excellent. I would also like to try apple, raisins, or coconut in the future. Perfect with a cup of coffee, butter and homemade jam for breakfast, or with vegetable soup for lunch.

Cinnamon Apple Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
This recipe was excellent! I actually left the apple out of the pancakes and instead topped them with the Apple Cinnamon Syrup from this site. They were fluffy and light, and very tasty!

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
This was great! I left out the spinach and only used one zucchini (because I didn't have any more), and the pot was still overflowing with vegetables! This made so much soup that I had enough for three days, and then froze the rest! Thanks Jamie!

Classy Chicken

Reviewed: May 2, 2007
This was excellent! I had to make a lot of changes because where I live, I can't get dill, sour cream, or sun-dried tomatoes. Instead I used mushrooms, left out the dill, and added just a little flour to the sauce to make it thicker. It was so flavorful and was excellent served over fresh tagliatelle. I will definitely make this again...maybe tonight???

Sugar Cookie Cutouts

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
I completely agree with MAMASHAKE in that I hate sugar cookies because they're always so sticky and finicky, and I have tried several of the more popular recipes on this site without much success. Because of her review, I tried this one and was not disappointed. I find this recipe 10000 times easier to work with than other sugar cookies, while still tasting great. Thanks GLJCAT!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Pretty good icing. Color was bright, and icing dried smooth and shiny.

Baked Basil Fries

These were really good, and an easy way to use up extra potatoes. They were nice and golden and perfectly crispy, a nice side dish to chicken. :)

Moroccan Chicken and Whole Grain Couscous

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
Good subtle flavors, though I might have preferred a little bit more spice. I was wary of the cinnamon (and accidentally added quite a bit!) but it really enhanced the chicken and was not at all overpowering. I ended up with something pretty watery, but it was still great with couscous, and I used the leftover chicken/sauce over whole wheat penne pasta the next day. Yum!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2006
These cookies were good, but the dough seemed too runny when I went to put them in the oven, so I added some flour, which I think was a mistake, as they tasted a little too floury. Just chilling the dough probably would've done the trick. I also added extra cinnamon but some nutmeg or allspice might have added a little kick. Will try them again, but with less oil, no extra flour, and perhaps some nuts.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
These were really difficult to roll out! Even after chilling them for the stated time and rolling them onto floured parchment paper, the dough stuck in a way that made it IMPOSSIBLE to remove. I had to stick the whole sheet of parchment with the rolled-out dough already on it back into the freezer to see if I could get it off somehow. The taste of the cookies, once baked, was good, but they puffed up a lot and lost some of their shape. Compared to the Best Ever Chocolate Cutout Cookies recipe from this site, I'd definitely choose that one again over this one. Sorry!

Buttermilk Biscuits I

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2007
I don't know what happened, but my dough turned out extremely sticky, so I made drop biscuits instead of using cutters. These took way longer than 15 minutes to bake, and even with melted butter on the tops, I felt as if something were missing. They weren't bad, just not what I had imagined. I'll try again.
