Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
These were really good. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely make again. I followed the recipe except I cooked them in muffin cups, for about 45 minutes. It was easy to throw together and they tasted great. The sauce was very good. It was a little on the sweet side but I love sweet so it wasn't bad for me.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
I hate to be the "odd man out" but I did not like this recipe. I followed the recipe almost exactly and I found it to be lacking in flavor (except sweet, it had plenty of that) and I could feel the oil in my mouth. I can't imagine why I thought it was a good idea to add 3 tablespoons of oil. I added a sprinkle of onion powder and the same of garlic powder. A lot of people like this one so it must be good but I'll make sure I have all the ingredients for my favorite recipe, next time, or I just won't make it.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
Too crumbly and too floury. It was pretty in the pan but several of my pieces fell apart as I was buttering them. The flavor was ok but nothing to get too excited about. Due to lack of deliciousness and the crumble factor, I will look elsewhere when I am searching for a sweet cornbread recipe. If this was the only recipe I could find, I would add more cornmeal and get rid of some of the flour. I like the texture of cornbread. This was more like cake, smooth.

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
These brownies were absolutely "mmmmmm". I made them in a mini muffin tin, cooked for about 10 minutes (I might cook them for a little longer next time. They were a little too soft in the middle). The batter made 24 good sized brownie bites. A bag of chocolate chips is 2 cups. I thought more has to be better. Next time I'll stick with the recipe. It was hard to mix and it turned into a big fudgie ball. After all was said and done it wasn't a problem but next time I'll just do it as it is suggested. I found mint Hershey's kisses (for St.Patricks day). I put one on each brownie bite. I can't tell you how good that made them! Tasted just like a thin mint Girl Scout cookie. Yum!

Caramels

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
My results were about 2 stars but I'm sure it's from "operator error". The flavor was good (certainly not better than anything I've ever bought) but I guess my candy thermometer was off. My end results were hard and nearly impossible to cut. I was terribly disappointed. I think I'll give up any attempts at making candy.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
Excellent! Very flavorful and so delicious. I can't stop eating them. Mine didn't crack on the top like some of the pictures. I would have liked that but it didn't happen for me. They did not spread as much as I thought they would; mine were kind of small. You can't go wrong with this recipe. Wonderful!

Pretzel Turtles

I hate to be the "odd man out" but these were just ok. They were very easy and very cute using Christmas themed pretzels but the taste was nothing to write home about. I LOVE pretzels, I LOVE Rolos, and I LOVE pecans; how could I not LOVE these?

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
My favorite coleslaw recipe, so far. I've tried several since I started liking coleslaw. This was by far the best. I made it as directed and I didn't find it to be runny at all. I really thought it would be; I've never made a recipe with milk or buttermilk. My mom doesn't like sweet coleslaw and she said the sweetness level was perfect. I probably added just a little less sugar than called for.

Chicken With Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
I reserve my 5 star reviews for only the best. This one got it! My boyfriend said this was one of the best things I had ever made. I used chicken tenders (about 10) and I sauteed the mushrooms in olive oil and about a tablespoon of minced garlic. WOW is really all I need to say about this one!

Monkey Bread I

Wonderful recipe! I used only 2 cans of biscuits and I tried to proportionately cut back on the other ingredients. I just kinda "winged it". It turned out fabulous and the 2 cans totally filled up my bunt pan. Easy, fun to make, and so delicious. Definitely a 5 star recipe!

Quick Brussels and Bacon

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I've been looking new vegetables to add in my rotation. These were pretty good. I skipped the olive oil and used just a dash of the bacon grease. I also used regular onion and I added a clove of minced garlic. This was a very good cooking method; the brussels turned out soft, flavorful, and not bitter at all. I think next time I may totally skip the bacon and see how that turns out.

Great-Aunt Nina's Noodles and Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
This was good and I loved making homemade noodles (I've never done that before). I also enjoyed using the whole chicken. That gives such nice flavor. I think I would probably not make this again. It was quite a bit a work for the end product. Like I said, it was good but really just not worth the effort.

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Very tasty. The banana flavor was perfect, just the right amount. I added some chocolate chips to a few. I really enjoyed that! My only complaint, they weren't fluffy enough for me. I'm sure some people like flatter pancakes; I just prefer mine fluffy. I would definitely make these again, however!

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I made a half recipe and baked them in an 8x8 pan for 35 minutes. They came out perfect. They were really easy to prepare and looked great after I sliced them up. Now the problem, NO flavor and not sweet enough. I don't know how a brownie and cheesecake could be this tasteless!

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
Very good banana bread recipe, if you like it SWEET. My walnuts sank to the bottom, I must have done something wrong. I've never had that happen in banana bread before. Overall, I think this is one of the better recipes but not exactly what I am used to.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
This was so good! It tasted just like a tiramisu made with lady fingers, I thought. There was plenty of filling and frosting. I would have liked a little more of the coffee/liqueur mixture. Next time I think I might double it. I have never been successful making chocolate curls. After another unsuccessful attempt, I watched some youtube videos and I finally think I am ready for my next try!

Glazed Carrots and Snow Peas

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
These were wonderful. I served them with slow cooker pepper steak. They were an excellent accompaniment to my meal! I didn't use the microwave method. I just boiled the carrots until I thought they were almost done then I added the peas for a couple of minutes. The sauce was excellent and not too sweet.

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
I have always hated green peppers but I decided to make this "for something different". I am so happy I did! It was so delicious. I served it over white rice with glazed sugar snap peas and carrots. It was, without a doubt, one of the best meals I have made in a long time. I used diced tomatoes instead of stewed. I also added a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce. You can't go wrong with this one!

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
These were really good. I marinated for several hours and used boneless chops. I think next time I will try the center loin cut. I doubled the sauce and used all of it from the start. I covered the dish in foil and cooked them for about 45 minutes. That was probably a little too long. The flavor was really good except a little too heavy on the soy sauce flavor. It was very obvious. All the other flavors blended together to make a sauce I will use again and again.
