Deep Dish Persimmon Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
This smelled great while it was baking and I couldn't wait to sample it. I took it to a party and was extremey disappointed and wished I had tried it at home first. Taste-wise it was okay, but the texture was not appealing to me. It was very dry and crumbly. I won't be making this again.

Persimmon Bread II

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly and it was very good. My family including my 4 year old liked it, but it was a bit sweet for my taste. I will definitely try it again and cut back on the sugar next time. I will also try doubling the persimmon to get more of its flavor. As is, the bread tasted like a spice cake and I couldn't really taste the persimmon.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
No one seemed interested in eating the salsa which was disappointing because it was time consuming to dice the fruit. The cinnamon chips, however, were a hit and I will make those again. They were very easy. I sprayed each tortilla, cut them in triangles and threw them in a huge lidded container with the cinnamon sugar. With a couple of shakes, the triangles were coated with the mixture.

French Canadian Tourtiere

This was delicious. I used 4 cloves of garlic and upped the sage to 1/2 tsp. It was so good, everyone went for seconds.

Cranberry Hootycreeks

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
I made these as gift jars for my daughter to bring to school for her teachers. They look beautiful. I used a quart Ball wide mouth mason jar and the recipe filled it to the top with no problems. To measure the 5/8 cup flour, I weighed 1 cup of flour and did the math. So, I ended up using 99 grams of flour.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2007
Change this up quite a bit to use what I had on hand. Instead of chicken wings, I used chicken thighs cut in strip. And instead of frying, I put them on a foil-lined pan sprayed with cooking spray and sprayed the top of the chicken as well. I baked at 450 turning once for 30 mins.

I'm not much of a grean bean eater, but I needed a vegetable to serve during Thanksgiving and found this one. This was delicious and easy to make.

This was sooo... good! Next time I'm gonna try adding jalapeno in it to give it a little kick.

Jalapeno-Blue Cheese Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2006
This is the best burger I've had in a long time. Like previous reviewers, I was worried about the amount of jalapenos used in the recipe. But after grilling, the jalapenos mellowed and blended well with the bleu cheese. I took the advice of others and added one egg to help hold the meat together. I made these into 6 large patties instead of the 4 the recipe called for. We had leftovers for 2 nights and still couldn't get enough of it!

Herb Biscuit Loaf

This was fantastic! I was skeptical at first because I'm not a huge fan of canned biscuits, but I loved it and so did everyone else. They were so easy to make too.

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
I followed the recommendations others posted in their reviews and I used only 1 tbsp of adobo sauce in the dressing. The fish still came out very flavorful. I will definitely make this again, but may try using catfish instead. The spices seemed to overpower the tilapia which is a very delicate tasting fish.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Served these at my husband's birthday party. Everyone loved them. Not a single one left and that was well before dinner even started! To save on time, I put 2-3 on a skewer at a time.

Beef Bourguignon I

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
This recipe didn't turn out as I had expected. It was good, but not "fantastic" as I was expecting especially given how long it took to prepare and cook. The meat was very tender and smelled great while it was cooking, but we weren't thrilled with the taste.

Super-Simple, Super-Spicy Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
This was easy and quick -- just want I need! I substituted chopped red onion for the green onions since that was all I had. I didn't have peanut oil, so I used vegetable instead. The tablespoon of red pepper flakes was a bit too hot for us, so I will try it with half to 3/4 of the amount.
