Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2014
This was the simplest and best buffalo chicken dip I have ever had. I used fresh chicken breast which I boiled and shredded and then sauteed in the hot sauce just long enough to coat. I used extra franks buffalo wing sauce and by extra I mean an entire medium sized bottle and after cooking the chicken in the hot sauce I mixed it all in a bowl with about a cup of Monterrey Jack cheese and tossed it in the crock pot for a few hours until hot and bubbly. It turned out awesome and I had no issues with it separating. I do think it would be good without any added cheese but the Monterrey Jack cheese was an awesome addition. Thanks for a simple and great recipe!

Old-Fashioned Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2014
I cooked my roast all day and then put in the fridge long enough for the fat to harden so I could easily skim it off then shredded the meat and added veggies including a can of diced tomatoes, corn, celery and extra garlic, a bay leaf and some worcestershire sauce along with everything else listed minus the mushrooms. This turned out absolutely amazing and was so easy to make. Oh and I have always loved green beans in my stew...yummy!! Thank you for an excellent base recipe.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2013
I made a triple batch of these muffins for a bake sale and I doubled each batch and with the extra fruit each batch made 24 normal sized muffins. I made banana nut, blueberry and apple cinnamon. I did add vanilla and the banana nut turned out the prettiest with the biggest crown. I believe that the banana nut turned out the best because the banana thinned the batter some. The blueberry using frozen blueberries that were tossed in flour and sugar ended up with the top spreading all over and the apple cinnamon ended up with half having a hole in the center which I believe is because of how thick the batter was. Next time I will thin the batter with a little extra milk. Other than the crown and middle hole issues the flavor was excellent.

Grandma's Moist Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
This cake batter turned into a very moist, rich, buttery and delicious cake. It did turn out a little more like a pound cake but was perfect like that. I added apples and cinnamon to the batter before baking and it did not even need any icing...very, very good cake!!

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
This soup is absolutely delicious. I made it just as written except I seasoned every thing with salt, pepper and garlic while cooking and it was plenty flavorful. We usually do not like cooked spinach but the whole family really enjoyed this soup with the spinach added. I used italian seasoned gnocchi from the freezer section of my grocery store. The kids topped theirs with a little shredded cheese. Thanks for the great recipe.

Quick and Easy Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
I read about how thin it was so I used 3 cans cream of potato soup, 3 cans clam chowder and half of the half and half suggested...I also used 3 cans minced clams (2 drained one not), small yellow onion sauteed with celery and a bit of garlic, a little butter, pepper, and parsley and although the taste is absolutely delicious it was still quite thin for my families liking so next time I think I will cut out the half and half all together and add some diced potatoes to thicken it up a little more. Side note: Although this has excellent flavor as is adding the sauteed onion, garlic and celery is what really makes this stand out from tasting kind of like all the other canned versions. Thank you for the super easy and excellent base recipe.

Papa Drexler's Bavarian Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2011
These were definitely yummy. They were best with cinnamon and sugar. My kids loved them but said they taste like a mix between bread and a pretzel. The crispy outside was like a pretzel and the soft inside like bread. It did take 20 minutes for them to even brown a little on top and they got a little too brown on bottom so next time I may try the egg wash in place of the melted butter to try to get the tops brown before the bottoms get well done.

Bandito Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
Excellent recipe...the only thing I changed was to replace the green beans and wax beans with light and dark kidneys beans and lima beans with a 2nd can of black beans. I made this over the labor day weekend for my families BBQ and it was so hearty and delicious and everyone loved it including all of the kids. I am using the leftovers for chili tonight. This will be the only baked beans I make from now on.

Sarah's Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
This recipe is excellent as is. I made it exactly as written the first time but the second time I made it I added green onion which I love, an extra clove of garlic and only blended one can of the tomatoes with the jalapeno, garlic, hot sauce, lemon juice, cilantro and salt and pepper and left 3 cans of tomatoes (2 w/green chiles) and the sliced green onion unblended for a chunkier salsa which I prefer over smooth salsa...thanks so much for the excellent recipe. It is so so good.

Funnel Cakes

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
I love funnel cake and have not been able to find a good recipe for it until now. I only had self rising flour on hand so subtracted the salt and baking powder. These were just as good as the ones at the carnivals and fairs. Thanks so much for the great recipe!!!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
This was excellent. My oldest boy LOVES jambalaya but my two younger children do not like it as spicy so I cut out the cayenne and added about 1/2 tbsp more of cajun seasoning. I also added frozen uncooked shrimp in about 45 minutes before time to be done and cooked my rice half way in the rice cooker and when I added it in it soaked up the rest of the juices and made the jambalaya just right. Turned out excellent. Thank you for a great recipe...so much better than store bought.
