When I was living at home as a teenager I cooked all of the time because my mom did not relly like cooking. Then I lived on my own for several years and I had no one to cook for. I got married at the age of 33 and we were super busy so we ate out most meals, plus his mom was such a good cook that I could not even come close to measuring up to her cooking and my hubby really would be happy with hot dogs and pizza every night for dinner.
Well now with economy not being so great I have started watching Alton Brown and cooking more than I have in years. I also planted my own garden this year. We don't have a big yard so my hubby built a few garden boxes for me. I had plenty of tomatoes and cucumbers this year and hope to improve my gardening skills next year as I learned a lot this year.
My favorite things to cook
Lasagna, Cincinnati Chili (just like Skyline), Spaghetti with Meat Sauce. Mini loaf breads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have found a wonderful salsa recipe from Alton Brown that I love to make along with Guacumole for the Super Bowl party we throw each year. I would love to start hosting dinner parties. I would love to cook for my friends.
My cooking tragedies
When I was six I was making a cake and learned a big lesson. I put in tablespoons instead of teaspoons of baking powder. What a mess!
