About this Cook
Cooking has always been in my life. From the time I was young. I learned at my grandmothers feet, my dad, and my mom. I either was in the kitchen or outside playing in the mud. I am a HUGE NASCAR fan. I love reading books, Anne Rice is my favorite author. I am a huge music fan, and my taste in music is very wide. I have 4 children (LOL) Justin, my human kid, 18 and thinks he knows everything, and then PD, Rory, and Keeta, my fury kids. I live in Tulsa, but sometimes wish I was somewhere else. I am getting close to the BIG 40 and am trying to figure out where to take my life from here. Any ideas?? I am willing to listen.
My favorite things to cook
I grew up cooking from what we had. Veggies were huge in our cooking, also did alot of hunting with my dad, coon, duck, deer, rabbit. I learned from my DAD on how to make due with what you have. We use to get indian commodities when I was young, that man could take that canned beef and make a stew, it was amazing, most did not know the meat came out of a can. Their peanut butter made the most AWESOMENESS cookies in the world, was not good for making sandwiches thou, yuck. My dad use to save the skins from the potates as we peeled them and fry them up. Those were our potato chips, they were good. But I think by far my favorite dish was my Dad's Potato Soup. OMG, it was awesome. We had a deal, I peeled and he cooked, it always worked out good for everyone. I have tried to replicat it, and it comes out good, but not as good as my daddy makes it. My mom was the baker, thou most of the time I had no patience for letting the yeast rise. But I loved the smell. I always loved when

My cooking triumphs
In my house, if dad did the cooking, I usually did the baking. Bread, Biscuits, and cornbread. One time my dad wanted me to make cornbread, but I didn't want to. Well as you guess he won. So I begrudgly started the proccess. We didn't have a mix, no Jiffy, it was from scratch. My dad likes sweet cornbread, so we always added sugar to the mix. Well since I was pouting and mad at him, I put in a little to much sugar. Came out like a cake. My dad was mad till he tasted it. Was like a cake, so he took some canned peaches we had and poured it over the cornbread. Best desert ever, LOL. That is right, the invention of Peach cornbread cake, LOL. You can use different fruits, I would choose canned, but peach is the best by far.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made scones. They came out rock hard. Not sure what I did exactly, but the next time I made them they came out just fine.
