This was a good recipe. I changed a few ingredients (for what I had in stock). I sauteed the onions and celery with butter and salt; and then instead of the tomatoes, I added a can of rotel. Then I added the tomato sauce and water and brought to a simmer.
I cleaned the peppers and then combined the beef, rice, and basil and stuffed it into the peppers.
I then placed the stuffed green peppers into my slow cooker and poured the hot tomato sauce all around and over it. I let it cook in the slow cooker for about 6 hours.
It was quite delicious; but, I do have to say; if you do not add quite a bit of salt to the dish, it will be bland.
I even froze the left-over tomato sauce, I am sure I will find something to use it in.
