About this Cook
I started cooking when I was 9 years old. I cooked pork chops, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn for the first effort. My parents "said" it was good.
My favorite things to cook
I've always loved working with yeast. I especially enjoy making good breakfasts when the grandkids spend the night.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pancakes of all kinds, breakfast pizza, French dip, etc.
My cooking triumphs
German apple pancake - I took two of these to a condo association coffee and everyone loved them.
My cooking tragedies
I had a stroganoff recipe that I loved. I made it for my husband's godmother and it was a humbling experience. The rice was sloppy and the meat was tough and didn't have a lot of flavor. Haven't made it since!

Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich
I grew up on these! Now that I'm older, I think I may try them kicked up a notch. I'm planning to beat some eggs and dip the sandwich as if making French toast, cook about 3 minutes per side, and possibly add powdered sugar or syrup to serve.

Chai Tea Mix
I really like this recipe, but we "older" people have more diet restrictions, so I use decaf instant tea and a sugar substitute such as Splenda. I'm not sure how many carbs are eliminated with these changes.

Shredded Beef Enchiladas
I haven't tried it yet, but the recipe sounds delicious and appears to be one I could "customize" for a low carb diet. I recently found wheat flatbread with 6 net carbs, so will use some filling in one flatbread and moisten with a little enchilada sauce.
