About this Cook
I have been married to a wonderful man for 28 years, we have two grown children, my 22 year old daughter is still at home. We also have a Beagle puppy in our family. I work full time as a secretary. I love to be in the kitchen as much as possible, my grandmother inspired me in the kitchen, never used a recipe, always turned out good. I love to entertain. I am also in charge of the church kitchen and meals provided by the church we attend. We love to travel.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook most things, but I love to make soups and stews in the winter and bar-b-que in the summer. Also cakes and cookies.
My cooking triumphs
I have a Christmas party - open house every year for the past 5 years for about 30 couples and preparing all the food from scratch and having a big selection has been a big accomplishment. Everyone looks forward to getting the invitation for the Christmas party because they know they will have so many selections and never be disappointed with any of them. Really makes me feel good to have so many compliments.
My cooking tragedies
Not many but a few, trying new recipes but making changes along the way. Almost never will make a recipe the exact way called for.

Brownies To Die For
I made these brownies for a meeting. I took everyone elses advice and baked in a 9 x 13 pan. I didn't add the chocolate chips or pecans on top, I added extra pecans in the batter and made my own homemade chocolate butter cream frosting. They were very moist, heavy and dense. Almost too much. Couldn't really taste the coconut pecan flavor in them. Might make them again.

Cathy's Banana Bread
This was a very easy recipe, I followed the recipe exactly except I made 1 1/2 batches, and didn't measure the banana's I just mashed up and used 4 large very ripe banana's and the bread baked in the exact amount of time as on the recipe and is so moist and flavorful. Very good. Will keep and make again for sure.
