Pork Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
I've made this twice, once with pork steaks and once with pork loin chops and both times it was great! I did use more soy sauce than the recipe calls for. The sauce was great over rice and I'm using the leftovers to make pork fried rice.

Jalapeno Pepper Appetizers

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
These were wonderful! Instead of using individual toothpicks I put about 10 on skewers. It made it much easier to turn.

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
I baked this pie and entered it in a pie contest and won 1st place!! I used frozen blueberries that I had picked earlier during the summer and Pillsbury pie crust. I did make a few changes based on other reviews. I used 5 Tbsp. of cornstarch and 1 cup of sugar. Wonderful pie!

Heavenly Potatoes and Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
My whole family loved this. I had tried another ham and potato casserole recipe, but they didn't like the onions. I left out the green onions and the bread crumbs and they ate this up, even my picky 6 year old. Will definitely using this one again.

Summertime Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2013
I cut the oil in this recipe in half and it was still too much. I also used 3 tomatoes, 1/2 a sweet onion and some green onions, and red wine vinegar. I think it's a great starting place, but next time I will use half again of the oil.

Asian Style Country Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2012
These were great! I made a few modifications based on time and ingredients on hand. I only marinated for 3 hours and I used a mixture of soy and teriyaki sauce, ground ginger instead of fresh, lemon juice instead of lime and no hot sauce and then cooked on high for about 5 hours. I served it with sushi rice and broccoli and everyone loved it.

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
This was great! Even my picky eater asked for seconds! I did leave out the peppers since I'm the only one who likes anything remotely spicy. I also used homemade teriyaki sauce and then cooked on low for about 5 hours.

Stuffed Shells III

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
This was great. It took longer than I expected, but was well worth the extra time. I only made half the filling since I only had 16 oz. ricotta cheese and I added 1 lb. of hamburger to the sauce since my husband and son aren't too big on meatless meals. Everyone loved it and the leftovers didn't last long.

This was just okay. I probably won't try it again. It wasn't very flavorful.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
I made a 1/2 batch since I wasn't sure if my family would like this, but they all loved it and my 9 year old told me that cornbread was his favorite bread. Thanks for a great recipe. I'll have to make more next time.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
My whole family loved this including my picky 7 year old. The only things I changed was to leave out the onion powder, use powdered beef bouillon instead of beef broth, and leave out the sherry. Great recipe!!!

Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
I thought this was great. It tasted just like what you would get at a restaurant. I did make some substitutions. I didn't have orange juice concentrate, just orange juice, so I used that. I also didn't have fresh ginger, but used ground ginger. And for the orange zest I used a little bit of lemon extract since my food substitution book said that this was an ok sub for lemon zest (which I also didn't have any of). The only thing I didn't like about the recipe is it didn't make much of a sauce. If I make it again, I will make more sauce. Very good with rice.

Ham and Potatoes Au Gratin

My family loved this recipe! I did cook the potatoes first to be sure they were done. I also put in more ham, potatoes and cheese, and it came out great.

Honeyed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
I agree that one hour cooking time is way too long, but then it may depend on the thickness of your chops. I used a meat thermometer and it only took about 30 minutes. My husband liked them, but my son who is always hungry and will usually eat anything wasn't impressed. I'm going to use the leftover chops along with the sauce to make some stir fry.
