Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
Wonderful, sturdy, sweet. Needs absolutely no topping when served. Note: I found the recipe works better when dough is allowed to rise a bit longer than indicated (try time and a half.) When baked it rises more than 2 inches above the pan: beautiful and oh, the smell! Thanks for a great recipe box staple!

Strawberry Romaine Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
I, too, recommend adding toasted walnuts. I also omitted the Bermuda onion as I didnt have one on hand and it was fine w/o it. Wonderful - I love new salad recipes. The dressing was great; I used light mayo. Will absolutely make again.

Stir-Fry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
I was pleasantly surprised with the combination of flavors in this recipe. It tastes like a salad you might order at Applebee's, but healthier. I added honey to the "sauce" for sweetness and poured extra sauce over the finished salad as a dressing. Delicious and VERY FAST and EASY!

Apple Raisin Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
Perfect addition to Easter supper. It has a "Lenten" feel and look. Note: I found this dough quite sticky and used more than 8 cups of flour when kneading. Be sure to have plenty around in case you run into a similar problem. Also, next time I'll add more raisins. Thanks for the recipe!

Cassata Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
I stole the cake only part of this recipe and used it for a strawberry shortcake/layer cake. I had trouble finding a sponge cake recipe I liked; this worked GREAT and was delicious! It's a great base cake for fruits - very light and lovely. Note: I found lining the pans with parchment paper difficult. Spraying with non-stick cooking spray (or buttering) and then flouring works just fine. Thanks for the recipe - i'll try the whole thing next time.

Strawberry Spinach Salad II

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2007
I highly recommend this recipe, replacing the veggie oil with olive oil - it's much healthier. I also added walnuts and used a combo of red wine and rice vinegars instead of balsamic. Thanks!

Definitely replace water with chic broth, or if you make traditional white rice make IT with the chic broth. Adds great flavor. Added celery also works well with this recipe.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

I've made this many times and I think it's my favorite recipe I've found on this site. So different and so delicious. It'll surprise you. I usually sub half the kidney beans with chili beans.

Orange Poppy Muffins

These were just ok to me. I prefer large, fluffy bakery-type muffins if I'm going to the trouble of not using a mix; these turned out small and dense. Plus, the icing was way too buttery.

All-Star Veggie Burger

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2007
We enjoyed the flavor of these. They do, as other reviews said, tend to fall apart a bit if you're not careful - it's that darn tofu! Not making the patties too thick, using a very wide spatula to turn, and cooking till crisp on one side before turning all helps. I'll make again & try some variations - maybe black beans, sunflower seeds, sesame, etc..

I made this recipe for the "Classic Butter Cookies I" on this sight. Worked beautifully! Not too sugary, spread easily, tinted with food coloring very well. Going in the recipe box - Thanks!
