Curried Chicken Turnovers

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2007
Happy accident occured for me w/ this recipe... By the time I'd prepared the pie crust I realized I didn't have any cooked chicken on hand afterall. In place of the missing meat I added diced cucumbers, dried cherries and yellow raisins. I'd recommend this vegetarian variation! It was filling and deLICious! My 1 1/2 yr old gobbled it up!

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli

I altered this by using shells instead of ditalini, feta cheese rather than parmesean, and added chicken. The flavor was really great!

Pumpkin Cheese Bread II

3 1/2 stars. Seems to lack an additional rising agent; like other posts these turn out quite short, or else the recipe only yields one large loaf. Good taste, cakey.

Real Italian Calzones

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
I'll echo other reviewers in esteeming this dough recipe - it cooks to perfection - & that you can fill to your liking. My filling consisted of 1 cooked/cubed chic breast, oregano, cheddar & mozz cheeses, salt, pepper, garlic powder and I went ahead & put sauce on the INSIDE - sorry! The recipe made what I consider 4 large, very stuffed calzones. I guess I overstuffed but they turned out delicious and didn't overflow. Thanks for this idea!

Hazelnut-Mushroom Pilaf

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2007
This is a great sidedish! I've made the recipe as is and also with ditalini pasta in place of the orzo. I add green onions which really compliments these flavors. Fyi, the butter is unnecessary.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2007
I used Cameo apples which didn't soften very well. Turned out only ok. I added spices to the sauce and can't imagine not having them in there - it's a definite must. I may try again with different apples.

Brownie Crackles

Good. One thing: my brownie mix was 10.9 oz and I still had to add 1 cup flour in order to roll into balls. Turned out fine, though.

Apple Dumplings I

I, like another reviewer, made with the French Pastry Pie Crust on this site - so good. These end up tasting similar to apple Cinnabons.

Replaced cranberries with chopped red grapes ; excellent. The vinegar/lemon juice gives the salad a subtle kick..

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: May 26, 2007
I really liked all the spices in this recipe. The consistancy of the dough, however, could be much better. It was sticky - needed flour - and was difficult to roll even after refrigerating several hours. Also, the recipe makes quite a small amount and it should be doubled to make it worth your while. Anyway, I'll make again with alterations as aside from a poor dough, the flavor was good!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: May 6, 2007
My family devours these every. single. time. I make them! I've found that the sugar (both white and brown) can be cut back by about one-third. Also, once I was short a banana and used one-half cup applesauce in its place. SO good!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 6, 2007
I added raisins to 1/2 of the batter and chocolate chips to the other half before chilling. Both turned out great but the raisin half would be good with some added cloves. NOTE: With the add-ins the recipe makes closer to 5 dozen cookies, not the 2 doz as listed...

My family wasn't crazy about this flavor. It would be better with some added sprouts and spice to have more of a Thai taste...

Double Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2007
For those of you who have a gritty result, I'd say it's not the kind of milk you're using (I used whole) but perhaps you're not dissolving the sugar/milk mixture long enough, or melting the chocolate thoroughly. I whisked this recipe basically constantly and it came out with a lovely texture. It tastes like homemade chocolate pudding. Very good and pretty simple.

This combination of flavors is awful. It has a grainy texture. I don't recommend.
