Cauliflower Romaine Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
This salad was very good! I loved the flavors of the dark romaine lettuce combined with the grated cauliflower, gave it a very interesting flavor. The dressing was good also, maybe a little much, but that is easily scaled back a bit without messing with the flavor. Tonight we had this salad with veggie pizza, but this would be a good side to have with almost anything. Use your imagination! Since my whole family liked the salad we will most likely have it again with other main dishes. Thank you for sharing the recipe!

Hummus Pizza

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
This pizza was exactly what I was hoping for - nutritious and something a little different than what we normally eat. I made it exactly as the recipe states and we thought it was delicious! My three year old ate it (apparently he will eat veggies if it's in pizza form, I must remember this!), and my husband said that I can make it again anytime. The hummus as the sauce gives this pizza an interesting flavor, but it's subtle, so if you don't like hummus don't count this one out if you're looking for something healthy to eat. Try it! This would be a good one to experiment with and use different toppings for variety. Thank you for this recipe!

Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
This cheesecake was DIVINE! Perfect blend of pumpkin and cream cheese. And the crust - oh my goodness, so incredibly good. I made this for my in-laws Thanksgiving dinner, and they were very impressed and wouldn't stop complimenting me on it. I almost had an accident with the cheesecake last night when I was baking it though, the bottom of the springform pan almost dropped off when I was putting the cake in the oven, and so it fell a couple of inches. I was so worried when it was baking that the crust had cracked or something, and of course I couldn't really know for sure until we were cutting into it, but it turned out great. One tip though, I used a 9-in. pan and I mixed up the crust according to the directions, and when I spread it out in the pan there wasn't nearly enough to go all along the bottom and up the sides, so I will double the crust ingredients the next time I make this. Otherwise this is a great recipe and I'm sure it will be requested again since my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law absolutely LOVED it! Thanks for this fantastic recipe, Renee.

Zucchini Apple Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
I made this recipe to take over to my parent's house for a dinner and it was very good! The only change that I made was to use 4 zucchini instead beause the ones that I found at the store were extremely small. I made the salad about two hours before we ate it, and I think that gave the ingredients a chance to really meld together and give it a nice flavor. So easy to make and tasted great! My dad requested that I make it again sometime soon. Thanks for this recipe!

Sweetened Condensed Milk

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
I made this sweetened condensed milk tonight when I was craving a cinnamon latte, and really didn't want to make that trip to Starbucks. This worked out great! Very easy and a lot less expensive than buying the can. I'm not sure if I will ever buy a can of it again because of how quick this recipe for it is, it would be silly not to make it instead. I didn't have the problem of this burning like some others, but I just made sure I stirred it constantly until it was thickened. Oh, and my latte turned out fabulous! Thanks for the recipe, Jeannie!

Gourmet Guacamole

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
This guacamole was very easy and quick to make. Wasn't sure how the mayonnaise was going to taste in this, but honestly, I couldn't really even taste it. By adding the salsa into the avocados it was kind of a strange color, but still tasted good. We used this to go alongside quesadillas. I will make this recipe again because it was so simple. Thanks for the recipe, April!

Black Bean and Corn Quesadillas

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
My family and I really liked these quesadillas. I try to incorporate more meatless recipes into our diet and this one was very satisfying, and left us feeling full. The flavors were good, although I might make it a little spicier next time. Very easy, just takes minutes to make so it's good for a weeknight meal. Yum! Oh, and we used way more cheese than it called for, because how can you have Mexican without tons of cheese? Anyway, great meal, EFasse!

Oven Fresh Seasoned Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
These potato wedges were pretty good. I had never made them before with Parmesan cheese or onion powder, and was pleasantly surprised. The Parmesan gave it a little bit of a crunch (and I just now realized that I was supposed to use grated instead of shredded...oops!) and a great flavor that we really liked. Very easy and cheap to make for a side dish or a snack. I think next time I will double the spices and oil just to make sure all of the wedges get coated because parts of them didn't have a lot of flavor. Thanks for the great recipe, Heather!

Chili Dogs

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
We were kind of disappointed with this recipe. I didn't think it had hardly any flavor and I even accidently doubled the chili powder. Glad I did because otherwise I think it would have been pretty tasteless. I'm thinking that maybe it would help the flavor if the spices and seasonings were added to the ground beef as it cooks instead of cooking the beef by itself and then adding the spices. Maybe I will try it again, maybe not, but if I do I will definitely add more spices. I thought the consistancy was a little off too because of the cornstarch. It just needs a lot of tweeking in order for it to be a really good recipe.

Herbed Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2011
This potato soup was delicious. Great flavor, great consistancy, and so easy. I loved that I could make this with ingredients that I always have in the house without making a special trip to the store. My husband, who doesn't usually like potato soups that well really liked this. The method was interesting too with the onions, butter, flour and the rest of the spices - loved it! I will make this soup often because it is a good one to make when you're out of time and can't get to the store. Thank you for this recipe, Jo.

Tuna Pasta with Peas

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2011
This pasta was very good! Easy and quick to make which is what I was going for tonight. This is also very inepensive to make, so if you're wanting a budget-friendly meal this would be a great choice. Having the peas mixed into the pasta makes it easy to get an added vegetable serving into kids who usually avoid veggies. The spices added a great Italian flavor to the pasta, and it turned out very tasty. I will make this recipe again when I need something quick. Thanks for the recipe, Ruth!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
These chocolate cookies are awesome! I have been looking for a long time for a chocolate cookie that doesn't get completely flat and spread a whole lot when baked, and I finally found it! Great chocolate flavor, but isn't too sweet. I will be trying this cookie in numerous ways, with peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, etc. Great recipe, Kathy, thanks for sharing!

Quick and Easy Home Fries

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
These potatoes were good and very easy to make (as the title suggests). Not real flavorful, but if you're in a hurry and want a quick side dish it's great. I did think the cooking time was off quite a bit though - I cut these into bite size cubes and these took at least 45 minutes before they were cooked all the way through. We served these as a side for breakfast for dinner of scrambled eggs and bacon, but this would be good to go along with almost any type of meal. Thanks for the recipe, Angie!

Mushroom Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
My husband and I liked this rice a lot. This is what I called, "clean out the pantry rice" because I was trying to use up things that we already had at the house instead of having to go to the store. It worked perfect for that. The rice didn't have a lot of flavor to it, but instead was a more subtle flavor. Normally I would serve this as a side dish, but since I didn't want to shop for ingredients to make dinner we had this for the main dish. I added some shredded chicken that we had leftover from the other night which made this a little more filling, but I don't think that changed the overall flavor much. Thank you for the recipe!

Garlic Green Beans

An easy and quick way to make green beans! My husband liked them so much that he was eating them out of the pan while we were waiting for the rest of the meal to finish cooking. Great recipe, Howard!

Chicken Pesto a la Lisa

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
This is probably in my top 5 recipes that I have made from this site! So good and was loved by my whole family, everyone had seconds (or in the case of my 3 year old, thirds!) and I am looking forward to the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I thought this tasted so good that it's almost restaurant quality. In fact, it surpassed my last visit to an Italian chain. Very quick to make so it's great for a weeknight meal without much fuss or chopping. Next time I make it I might leave out the feta cheese because we really couldn't taste it at all, not a complaint, just an observation and another way to save a little money. Thank you for this fantastic meal, Lisa!

Soccer Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
This salad was great! I loved the flavor the dressing gave to the salad. All of the ingredients are very different so I wasn't sure how they would all go together, but this is fantastic. I don't usually like almonds in things, but I loved them in here. We will definitely eat this again! Thanks for this recipe!

Cauliflower Cheese Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
My whole family really liked this soup. It is very easy to prepare, and besides cutting up the vegetables doesn't take real long. The soup is very cheesy so if you don't like a lot of cheese, this one is probably not for you. I think I ended up cutting my potatoes too little because they seemed to kind of disappear in the soup and I didn't really notice them. This would be a good recipe to make if you have a lot of leftover veggies to use because any vegetable would be good in here. Thanks for this recipe, Missy!

Pepper Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
This corn recipe was all right, but my husband and I thought there was too much of a cream cheese taste to it. I liked the flavor the green chiles gave the corn though. I also had trouble getting the cream cheese to melt all the way so it seemed like in some bites we got a big clump of cream cheese and not much else. The evaporated milk made the corn very liquidy and the cream cheese not melting just gave this dish a strange texture. I might play around with it a little bit and see if I can fix the consistancy problem, but I won't make it as is again. Thank you for giving me some ideas to play around with though, Danelle.

Glazed Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
I made these meatballs tonight and they turned out pretty good. I made the recipe exactly as written and thought there was a perfect blend of spices and seasoning. There are a lot of interesting ingredients that go into this recipe, which was why I wanted to try this one. I didn't find the meatballs too spicy or too sweet. This makes a lot so I froze about half of the leftovers so we can pull out a few at a time whenever we want them. Thanks for this recipe, Nancy!
