Angel's Ravioli Alfredo with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
My whole family really loved this dish! Both my five year old and two year old had two servings of this, and my oldest asked if he could eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Very easy and quick to make, and pretty inexpensive also. Even though it doesn't have any kind of meat in the recipe this is still really filling, and it doesn't feel like there is anything missing. I wasn't sure how spicy the red pepper would make this so I did leave that off so it wouldn't be too spicy for the kids, and my husband and I added just a little of it to our own individual servings. Great recipe which I'm sure we will make again and again. Thanks, Angel!

Red Quinoa and Avocado Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2013
Yum - loved this recipe! My husband and boys (5 and 2) had never had quinoa before, and it was met with mixed reactions. My husband and I love it, my oldest thought it was okay, and my two year old barely touched it. I doubled the recipe so I would have extra to take to work this week for lunches, which I am really looking forward to. I really like the nuttier flavor of the red quinoa, and thought all of the veggies were a good combination for the dish. Some people said the lime juice and cumin didn't make enough of a dressing, but I thought it was perfect. This definitely isn't a recipe that you would want drenched in a dressing because it would cover up all the wonderfulness that these ingredients have on their own. Thank you for sharing the recipe, Gitano!

Gourmet White Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2013
I made this pizza for my husband and I (the boys ate just a plain pepperoni), and we thought it was pretty good. I love pesto so I knew that it would be great, and it didn't disappoint at all. This is not a healthy pizza even though it has quite a few veggies in it, but with the butter, oil, and alfredo sauce there are a lot of calories, but I think it's worth it! Next time I might try it without the butter and oil just to see how that turns out, and that would cut some of the extra calories. Great taste and very easy to make! Thank you for the recipe, RRADAMS.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2013
Easy, easy, easy! This was a great recipe to make on a busy day. I just put all of this (except noodles) in the crockpot in the morning and all we had to do right before dinner was cook up the noodles and add those. I added some diced carrots to get another vegetable into the meal, and used chicken broth instead of water to get a little more flavor out of it. I do think that adding in some herbs would be good because it was just a little bland as is, but still good. My two year old loved it, ate all of his serving without complaint, but my five year old did not like the celery. To each his own! I will have to remember this one on those really busy days so I can get something on the table quickly. Thank you for the recipe, KathyLP!

Broccoli Sausage Simmer

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
This recipe was pretty good, and my whole family liked it. I did think that there was too much pasta and not enough sausage and veggies, so if I make this again I would cut back on the pasta just a little. Besides that the flavor was good, and this was very filling. The only change that I made was I added some Parmesan cheese to each individual serving, but nothing drastic enough to change the taste. Very easy and fast to make so it would be a great weeknight meal. Thanks for sharing the recipe, Lisa!

Citrus Pork Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2013
This pork was so easy and quick to make, and tasted wonderful. I put this in the crock pot on low before I left for work, and it cooked for about 8 hours. Turned out perfect! Nice, juicy, and not dry at all like some roasts have turned out for me lately. The gravy had a nice citrus taste to it that my whole family really liked, and was a really good consistency after adding the orange juice and corn starch. We served this with corn and mashed potatoes, and I am looking forward to leftovers in the next couple of days. Thank you for the recipe, Tammy, we will definitely make this again!

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2013
These enchiladas were great! Pretty quick and easy to make too, which is always a plus. I mixed up the filling and sauce, filled the enchiladas, and then put them and the sauce in the refrigerator while I was at work. When my husband came home from work he put them in the oven to bake until I got home. It worked out perfectly for us on busy days like this! Both of my boys ate this really well, and my two year old LOVED it. I will definitely be making these again. Thanks for the recipe!

Black Bean, Corn and Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2013
This chili was very good, and my whole family liked it a lot. It was easy and quick to make, which makes dinner time during the week much easier. I liked the tad bit of spiciness the salsa gave the chili, but it wasn't too spicy for my young boys (5 and 2) to eat. The leftovers the next day for lunch were even better than the day that I made it. I liked that the recipe called for turkey instead of the traditional ground beef, which made this even healthier for us.

Chive Buttered Carrots

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
My whole family loved these carrots! Quick and easy, and like the submitter of the recipe said, goes well with any entree. I always love the flavor that butter gives carrots, it is delightfully delicious. This is a good inexpensive recipe to make also since everything is a staple in our house except for the carrots, so I could see us making this one frequently. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe, Opal!

Kristen's Parmesan Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
This recipe was just okay for us. I was all excited because as I was mixing the dish up the combination of the parmesan and the thyme smelled wonderful, and it smelled heavenly when I was taking it out of the oven. But the taste simply wasn't as good as the smell unfortunately. The good thing about this recipe was that my two oldest boys ate it pretty good so they seemed to like it. The potatoes just tasted a little bland to me, but maybe changing the grated cheese to shredded and maybe a couple more spices might give it the taste that it was lacking. I might have to try that! Again, this was not a bad dish, just not real exciting to eat. Thanks for the recipe, Kristen!

Game Day Hamburgers

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
These hamburgers were pretty good, and VERY filling. I loved the cheese and the mushrooms, thought they added good flavor and texture, but I wasn't sure what the point of having the shredded potatoes in the burgers was. I couldn't taste them or see them once everything was cooked so you could probably leave those out and not even notice (and save some time by not having to shred them). They were very good though, and my husband really liked these so I'm sure we will be making them again sometime. Thank you for the recipe, Andy!

Keema (Indian-Style Ground Meat)

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
This was a very good recipe that my whole family enjoyed. I put this over noodles because my two oldest boys don't care for rice that much, but I personally think it would be better over rice. No big deal though, and certainly nothing that changes the taste of the sauce. I did not have enough garam masala so I made my own using 2t coriander, 3t cumin, 1t cinnamon, 2t ginger, and 1t black pepper. If you need a quick inexpensive meal this is a good one to try. I am looking forward to leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Thank you, ajr.

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2013
This macaroni and cheese was pretty good, and my kids ate it pretty well. I thought maybe it was a little too cream cheesey so if I made it again I would probably add more of the cheddar cheese to balance it out a little bit. The bread crumb topping was pretty good, but it does get soggy with the leftovers. Overall though, good flavor and very easy and inexpensive to make. Thank you for the recipe, VPATTISON!

Garam Masala Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2013
This chicken is probably some of the best that I have made in a long time. Great flavor, not spicy, but I love all the spices that go into garam masala. My parents came over to eat, and my dad was surprised that there was cinnamon, which gives it an unexpected flavor to the dish. With this cooking method, the chicken came out very moist and tender so that was perfect. My five year old and two year old loved it, ate their portions AND asked for more! I will be making this recipe again soon. Thank you, breezermom!

Green Bean and Mushroom Medley

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2013
These green beans were pretty much amazing! My husband, my two year old, and I really liked it. My five year old was not impressed, but three out of four isn't bad in my book. The flavor of this was great, although next time I think I will use real garlic instead of garlic salt, but other than that I don't think I would change anything. This takes a little while to make because of the chopping, but it is so worth it. The carrots were definitely different to have with green beans, but it was very good, and a different combination to try. Thank you for sharing the recipe with us!

Herbed Vegetable Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2013
My family LOVED this vegetable dish! Really easy to make, great flavor, and healthy. It doesn't get much better than that. I realized as I was putting this in the oven that I forgot to add the onion, but it still turned out really good, and it would be great with the onion too. I will have to be sure to remember it next time. This is one dish that would be a wonderful side for pretty much anything. Tonight we had the veggies with hamburgers that we grilled, but I could see me making it along with a baked chicken or fish too. Thank you for sharing the recipe, Sandra, this will be made often in our house!

All American Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2013
We really loved these hamburgers! Great texture, and with the addition of the ketchup there wasn't any need for a binder like an egg or breadcrumbs. These had a good balance between being moist, but not like a meatloaf, and being just dry enough, but not falling apart. We grilled them outdoors tonight, but these would be great to make on an indoor grill also when the weather is too cold to be outside. I will definitely make these again sometime.

Albino Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2013
This pasta was great! It was a big hit with my five year old and two year old, after a few days of them complaining about not liking dinner it was nice to have them eat a good portion. I think you could make this as a main meal, which we did and added some chopped chicken to make it a little more filling, or you could make it as a side dish as well. I could see us having it both ways. Thank you for the recipe, TUGORETZ!

Middle Eastern Rice with Black Beans and Chickpeas

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2013
This was pretty good, although a little on the bland side. We liked it enough to make it again sometime, but I think I will probably tweak it a bit. Maybe I will try seasoning the meat with the spices and that might help. This was a very filling recipe, and made TONS so if you're wanting to feed a bunch of people this would be a good recipe to do that with. My two year old ate it right up, but my five year old kind of picked at it and ended up not eating the chick peas or much of the rice. He seemed to like the turkey and back beans really well. This will be a good recipe to take with me to work for lunches the rest of the week because it is filling, but it won't leave me feeling too overstuffed. Thank you for sharing the recipe with us, JULIEP!

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
This was really good! We ate it after if sat in the fridge for just a little while, and I can tell it's one of those recipes that just gets better the longer it sits. I can't wait to taste it tomorrow! The tangy-ness and the sweetness were balanced just right. This was a quick and easy recipe to make and will go well with my lunches this week since there was quite a bit left. Thank you for the recipe!
