J's Horseradish Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
We thought this had way too much salt and mayonnaise in it. I made the mistake of not tasting the filling before putting them back into the egg whites or else I would have realized that these weren't going to be that great. I had one at dinner, my husband had two, and each of my boys had one, but we didn't really like the taste - too tangy and salty. So after dinner since we still had a lot left I took out the filling, added more mustard and horseradish to combat the mayonnaise taste, and added just a pinch or two of sugar to neutalize the saltiness. After all of that it tasted pretty good.

Joe's Special Scramble

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2014
This recipe was great! Very flavorful and great. I loved how the eggs are cooked at the end, and I think that is what makes this dish unique. I wasn't sure if my three boys would like it, but all of them ate it and asked for more. It took a while to chop up all of the veggies and cook the meat, but it was worth it. I will definitely make this one again! Thank you for sharing, JULIEP!

Lemon Cranberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2014
These went over very well for breakfasts this week. The lemon flavor was not too strong, which was perfect for us. Very easy and inexpensive to make, and they taste much better than making muffins from a box. I did use craisins instead of fresh cranberries, and since I don't like nuts in baked goods I left out the almonds. Great flavor! Thank you for the recipe, bobpiazza!

Pesto Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2014
My husband and I thought this pizza was great. Very flavorful, and quick since there wasn't anything that I had to cook prior to putting all the ingredients onto the pizza. This is one of the more expensive pizzas to make so this wouldn't be one that I would make on a regular basis, but as a treat every once in a while it's great! I loved the pesto as the sauce for something different instead of using a tomato based sauce. Thank you for the recipe, SKWms!

Lemon-Parsley Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2014
We loved these green beans! Nice, light, flavorful, but mild enough that they would go with pretty much any entree. These had a great flavor that was refreshing with the lemon and garlic. I think next time I make these I might add some more parsley because I didn't feel like that flavor really came through with the lemon. I will make these again for sure. Thanks for the recipe, Rachel C!

Adriel's Chinese Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2014
This recipe was excellent! Probably one of my favorites that I have found on this site. Great taste, with a little spiciness, but not too hot. I knew the potatoes would take a lot longer to cook than the chicken, so I started the potatoes a lot earlier. Then I just added the chicken and the sauce to cook through after the potatoes were done. This tasted like a dish that I have had at a local restaurant here, so it definitely met our expectations. I will be making this again soon! Thank you for the recipe, BlondeCook!

Broccoli with Almonds

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2014
I love recipes like this for vegetables - just adding a couple of more ingredients to make an ordinary side dish more interesting. The addition of the almonds was great, added a slight crunch and nuttiness to the broccoli. All three of my boys ate the broccoli without complaint so I will be making this recipe again soon. Thank you for sharing, Verna!

Campbell's Italian Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2014
This chicken turned out really well. I did change it up just a bit, however, I used all of the same ingredients without adding or taking away those. I marinated the chicken in the broth mixture like it says, put the chicken in a large pan, and since there was still almost a whole can of diced tomatoes left I topped the chicken with the remaining tomatoes, and baked it for 30 minutes at 350. When it came out of the oven I topped it with just a little bit of grated Parmesean cheese. The chicken was nice and moist, and the flavor was great. I'm sure this will be one that we will make again because all three of my boys ate it right up, and my six year old asked for more. Thank you for the recipe!

Nanny's Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2014
Great recipe that my whole family loved! I liked that there weren't any vegetables to chop up, which made getting the sauce on the stove very quick. I loved the richness and depth in flavor that the red wine vinegar gave the sauce. I did add some cooked ground turkey to the sauce before letting simmer for the half hour, but that was the only thing that I changed. The sauce would have been perfect even without the meat added though. All five in my family loved this so we will definitely be making this again. Thank you for your recipe, MELHARVEY!

Herb Grilled Vegetables

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2014
I thought these veggies would have much more flavor than it did. Normally I love grilled vegetables so I'm not sure what went wrong exactly. Maybe I was just expecting something a little more exciting, I dunno. They weren't bad, and they were definitely edible, but at the end of the day they were just...vegetables. Maybe it was the combination of ingredients that just didn't work, or maybe they just need more herbs or spices to make the flavor come out a little more.

Inwood Hamburgers

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2014
My husband, six year old, and I loved these burgers. My two year old was less than thrilled, but he could easily be a vegetarian so his vote doesn't count in this one. The flavors of the sun-dried tomatoes, green pepper, and green onion gives an ordinary hamburger a big flavor boost. A lot of times we will have trouble getting hamburgers to stick together, especially when they have a lot of veggies added in, but these stayed together wonderfully, and were juicy and moist. I don't think I would change a thing about this recipe. Thank you for sharing, Chester!

Barengate Bay Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2014
All five of us in my family pretty much devoured this dish tonight! The sauce is pretty thin, and I was hoping it would thicken up a bit while it baked in the oven, but it still tasted good. The mushrooms taste wonderful in this dish, and the lemon gives it a nice citrusy flavor. I did not use the full can of chicken broth because I think with all of the milk the sauce would have been even more runny than it already was. I probably used about half of the broth. Overall very good though! Thank you for the recipe, SHOREGIRL69!

Chili Beef Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2014
We liked this recipe a lot, with four out of five eating without complaint. My six year old just thought it was all right and didn't ask for seconds, but my two year old thought it was great and wanted a second helping. I wasn't too sure about the combination of mixing cream of chicken with Rotel, but it turned into a creamy sauce with a little bit of a kick that tasted really good. We did have about a half of a pan leftover so we'll see how it turns out the second time because it seems like tortillas end up getting kind of mushy from sitting in the refrigerator and being reheated. I wouldn't change a thing in this recipe because it was great! Thank you for sharing, Martha!

Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2014
This chili was pretty good, but not a favorite of ours. I thought it had too much of a tomato taste, or at least more than I like. All three of my boys did eat it without complaining though. Thank you for the recipe!

Grandma's Chili

Reviewed: May 18, 2014
We liked this chili a lot, and really liked that it used a ton of veggies so it makes for a good clean-out-the-fridge dish. I did only use one pound of ground beef, and added one can of black beans in addition to the can of baked beans. Turned out great, and I liked the fact that this wasn't tomato based just for something different. Definitely let this simmer for as long as possible to get the flavors to meld together well. Thank your for the recipe, scootegyrl!

Caramelized Onion and Horseradish Smashed Potatoes

Reviewed: May 11, 2014
These mashed potatoes were really good. Definitely worth the time and effort to make them! This had just the right amount of spice to make this more interesting than ordinary mashed potatoes. Before I made this I was afraid that the mustard and the horseradish would be too much for my six year old and two year old to eat, but they ate it right up. I made this along side baked chicken and steamed broccoli, but these potatoes would be versatile enough to go with almost anything. Can't wait to make these again! Thank you for the recipe, brightlightz.

Chicken Veronique

Reviewed: May 11, 2014
This was one of the better chicken recipes that I have made in a long time! It does take a while to make, but I think the time is so worth it in the end. The chicken was done perfectly, and was so tender and moist that we only needed a fork to cut it. The tangy flavor of the marmalade and lemon juice was perfect. This is one that I will definitely make again soon. Thank you for the recipe, MAGGIEMAEWEST!

Spinach Appetizers

Reviewed: May 3, 2014
These appetizers were all right, but I didn't think the flavor was too exciting. I had to completely rework the "dough" because with the recipe written as is, it didn't stay together at all. It was way too dry so I added another egg, which wasn't enough, so I ended up having to add some cream cheese to give it more stickiness. I don't think I would make this particular recipe again because of the problems with the dough being too dry, and something needs to be added to flavor it up a little more, but it was fun to try. Thank you for the recipe, Diane!

Quinoa Stuffing

Reviewed: May 3, 2014
I made this stuffing as an alternative to a traditional stuffing for our Easter dinner. I loved all the different veggies and fruit that were in this, and thought they gave it a good flavor. Some people who had not had quinoa before were a little reluctant to try it, but I always like making them branch out a little and try new things. My immediate family all really liked it though, and we enjoyed the leftovers in the days after Easter. Thank you for the recipe, Cynthiana!
