About this Cook
I love to cook and bake meals for my family, which consists of me, my husband, and our two year old son. My son makes it difficult sometimes because he can be somewhat picky. He is our little carnivore, loves his meat, but hates any and all vegetables! I like to try different recipes because I get very bored eating the same things over and over again. I love cooking and baking, but I absolutely hate cleaning up the messes that I make!
My favorite things to cook
I love Mexican, Italian, and making homemade soups the best. Anything with a lot of flavor and spice is good. I like baking cookies and desserts because it relaxes me and puts me in a good mood when I smell something baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Each year around the holidays my mom and I will bake Christmas cookies together. Even after I moved out of my parent's house I've always gone back so we can keep our tradition. I look forward to it every year. Also, my husband and I started having both of our families over for Christmas dinner. So for the last two years both of us have successfully made the big dinner together. I hope we can continue that one for years to come.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime that I make a meal that people enjoy is a triumph for me. Also, this last year (Christmas 2009), I successfully made a pie crust. That was something that I had been trying to do for years before it finally turned out. That made my Christmas a happy one!
My cooking tragedies
I can not make fried chicken at all, it always turns out too dry and too crispy. Or to put it bluntly like my husband does, "slightly burned". I will keep trying though.

Taco Rice
This recipe was pretty good, and my whole family ate this one! I did make this in the rice cooker, and it turned out perfectly done. I was afraid at first that there would be too much liquid for the rice cooker, but I worried for nothing. The flavor with the tomato sauce and the taco seasoning was great too. I did use a packaged taco seasoning mix, but next time I think I might mix up my own spices for this because I did think it was a little salty. No big deal though, and it still tasted great! Very easy side dish to make along side any Mexican/Southwestern dish. Thank you for the recipe, MOTOR MOUTH!

Zippy Tuna
This was a great recipe for tuna salad! The mustard and horseradish gave this just the right amount of kick without being too spicy. So much better than a regular tuna salad with only mayonnaise! I doubled the recipe for my family, and it made enough for about 6 regular sized sandwiches. Four out of five people at my house ate this, and enjoyed it so I'm sure I will be making this again. Thank you for the recipe, Ari!

LaDonna's Spaghetti with Sauce
This sauce was good, and two out of my three boys ate it well. It's a little bit of work to chop up all of the veggies, but it ends up being worth it. I was a little worried after putting in the tomato juice because the sauce was very watery, and I was afraid that it wouldn't cook down in time. It turned out just fine though, and the perfect consistency. Based on the number of servings that we got out of this the first meal, I would say that it leans more towards 12 servings rather than 8. Can't wait for leftovers later on in the week! Thank you for the recipe, LaDonna!
