About this Cook
I love to cook and bake meals for my family, which consists of me, my husband, and our two year old son. My son makes it difficult sometimes because he can be somewhat picky. He is our little carnivore, loves his meat, but hates any and all vegetables! I like to try different recipes because I get very bored eating the same things over and over again. I love cooking and baking, but I absolutely hate cleaning up the messes that I make!
My favorite things to cook
I love Mexican, Italian, and making homemade soups the best. Anything with a lot of flavor and spice is good. I like baking cookies and desserts because it relaxes me and puts me in a good mood when I smell something baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Each year around the holidays my mom and I will bake Christmas cookies together. Even after I moved out of my parent's house I've always gone back so we can keep our tradition. I look forward to it every year. Also, my husband and I started having both of our families over for Christmas dinner. So for the last two years both of us have successfully made the big dinner together. I hope we can continue that one for years to come.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime that I make a meal that people enjoy is a triumph for me. Also, this last year (Christmas 2009), I successfully made a pie crust. That was something that I had been trying to do for years before it finally turned out. That made my Christmas a happy one!
My cooking tragedies
I can not make fried chicken at all, it always turns out too dry and too crispy. Or to put it bluntly like my husband does, "slightly burned". I will keep trying though.

Super Simple Salmon
Just like the name says - Super simple and tasted so good! One of my favorite things about this recipe is that it uses ingredients that we always have around the house, so we don't even have to go out and buy anything special for it. Salmon is so quick to cook that I don't know why we don't make it more often - it would be great for nights that we have things going on, but not much time to cook anything. I need to remember that! Four out of five of us liked this a lot, so I'm sure we will be making this again soon. Thank you for the recipe, SLINKYWINK!

Dark Chocolate Cake I
I made this cake for my mom's birthday, and it turned out great! I always hate using boxed mixes, and so I had been searching for a really good chocolate cake to make. I've tried some that were good, but just weren't chocolate-y enough. This recipe fits that requirement! This was easy to make, the texture was wonderful without being too dry, and tasted so good. I will definitely make this one again soon! (now if I could just learn how to decorate cakes, but that's a whole other issue)

Easy Gravy
This was quick, easy, and tasted great! I wasn't originally going to make gravy since only my husband and I will eat it (3 boys don't like it), but since I had a few minutes waiting for some carrots to finish steaming, I figured I would give it a try. The texture was wonderful - no lumps at all! The gravy was really good over our mashed potatoes and some roasted chicken. The flavor could be stronger, but that will be something to play around with next time. Oh, and I was still waiting for the carrots to finish steaming when the gravy was finished, so it is really fast to make!
