Dark German Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
Im a Chocoholic at heart..and Oh My Gosh, this recipe does not dissapoint, it is fantastic! I decided to make cupcakes, this recipe made approx 44 regular sized cupcakes, filled 2/3 full. I did not change a thing ingredient wise. Very moist and delicious! I Piped around the outer edge with the Creamy Chocolate frosting recipe from this site and pipped a dollup of coconut/pecan German Chocolate frosting in the middle on top. Topped each cupcake off with a candied pecan piece and a drizzle of Chocolate ganache. Took 3 dozen to work for a bake sale and these recieved RAVE reviews from everyone! Thank you keklang for an awesome recipe!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: May 6, 2007
Best refried beans ever... I used 5 cups chicken broth and 4 cups of water. We love onion so I diced it up instead of halved. I used a whole jalepeno instead of half. I was a little concerned that a whole jalepeno would be too much spice but it left no spicy taste at all. I may use 2 peppers next time! After reading a few "too salty" reviews, I did not use any salt but they did need about 2 teaspoons of salt after cooking. Apparantly my slow cooker cooks very hot on the high setting so after the first 3 hours I did need to add an additional 1 cup of water so I turned the cooker down to low and cooked for another 7 hours which was perfect. Instead of straining the beans, I spooned off the extra juice on top with a large spoon which was easily done, then mashed them and kept them warming in the slow cooker. Topped the beans with shredded jack or pepperjack cheese which was awesome! We had invited a few friends over for dinner, the beans were the perfect side dish and burrito filling with the Carne Asada, Spanish rice and tortillas which we served! I will never use canned refried beans again! Thank you for the awesome recipe!

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
WOW...Awesome! The only changes I made were I used 6 oz. beer and 6 oz chicken broth instead of the 12 oz. of beer. I also added 4 chicken breasts instead of 3. This recipe is a keeper!

Crab Salad III

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2006
I made this a couple of times in the past couple months and shared it with my co-workers They all absolutely loved it and a few of them asked for the recipe! I used real crab meat instead of imitation and ommitted the tomato, I also doubled the dill. It' a great refreshing summer time salad! Thanks for sharing this great recipe Joyce!

Corn Dip II

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2006
Very good! The only variation I made is that I used 1 cup of sour cream instead of 2. I think chopped black olives or black eyed peas would also be a great addition in this recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Spinach and Rice (Spanakorizo)

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2006
Being Greek, I have cooked many Greek dishes & pastrys. This is a wonderful dish. I took the advise of the other reviewers and increased the water (to 3 cups) and added 3/4 cup of rice instead of 1/2. I had to increase the cooking time to 50 minutes (along with adding 1/4 cup of water twice in 10 minute increments for the last 20 minutes of simmer time)in order to get the rice cooked but it was well worth it! A nice side dish with chicken. Topped with feta and lemon juice totally make this dish outstanding! Thanks Kathy!

Pumpkin Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2006
Ok...this is the best pumpkin cake I have ever had! Very moist and easy to make. I have made it 4 times in the last 3 weeks (took it to my and my husbands work 3 of those times) Rave reviews from all our coworkers! I've made it as loaves and individual muffins, also plain with no walnuts, or stired in 1/2 cup of raisins. Topped with a Cream Cheese frosting is also great. Coworkers seem to REALLY love it with walnuts AND raisins. Absolutely delicious any version!

Brisket with BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2006
I have had my share of great brisket as I lived in Tx. for 3 years. I had not made it since living there which was 23 years ago. Very easy to make. I made the bbq sauce in this recipe but did not care for it so I used the Original KC Masterpiece bbq. sauce instead, it was absolutely wonderful! Lots of "ooohs" & "Ahhhs" from the family! Great Recipe, Thanks!
