Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2013
Perfect. I thought a stick of melted butter over all of it was going to be seriously too much and the 1/4 c of sugar on top too, but in following the recipe exactly, it turned out perfectly. I look forward to trying varieties of it. Hubbie liked it, so it is going in the recipe box :)

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2013
I tried this to specifically test out the loaf of the recipe and followed the recipe exactly. it was ok in taste, but I am looking for a different texture , one that is more put together. this was loose and crumbly. (note to self: used angus beef)

Grilled Mustard Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
VERY tasty. Simple. Really quick. And i expect it will be even better tomorrow, after a day of resting in the fridge. i used a bag of small red potatoes and diced them into 8ths (halved then quartered each half). and instead of grilling after par-boiling i broiled. i had olive oil instead of canola. and no celery salt. Everything else i did the same.

This is a good way to learn to make a cheese sauce. The recipe altogether is a good homemade mac and cheese.

Easy Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
425 for 20 min made the bottoms burn. i used a mini muffin pan, so the smaller muffin amounts may have made a difference. next time i will try it at a different temp and even in a bigger muffin bin. now for the muffin itself: at this time i dont want to rate it, for i feel it would not be fair to the recipe, becuase i was expecting it to be something different than what it is. i think i might appreciate it more if i make them in a diff muffin pan and also knowing ahead the kind of muffin. well, it wont let me post the comment with out rating it, so ... 3 stars. but i will be back after trying it again.

Kimberly's Meaty Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2012
I like the texture/consistency of it. However, this was a bland recipe (it would have been utterly bland had i not added salt and pepper - which the recipe does not call for - and also had i not topped it with ketchup insteat of just tomato sauce. I could use this recipe for meat-to-eggs-to-bread crumb ratios then run trial and errors with different seasoning/spices and veggies for add-ins. I gave it 3 stars instead of 2, because 2 means 'disliked'. i did not dislike it, but i did not like it (if that makes any sense). So i give it 2 1/2 stars. ***I hope this does not hurt the feelings of the person who gave the recipe. i simply want to give an honest assessment for my personal review later*** That being said...thank you for the recipe.

Peanut Butter Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2011
Followed the recipe and a tip from another reviewer who gave her "perfect cookie" tip...bake 9 minutes pull from oven and drop the cookie sheet from about 8 inches in the air onto the hard countertop then let the cookies cook on the hot cookie sheet for 2 minutes then transfer cookies to cooling rack. Perfect consistency...crispy on the outside and moist chewy and decadent on the inside. The recipe is perfect. The COOKIE is perfect.

Cranberry Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
DEEE-lish! Nummy to the tummy! These are DELIGHTful flavors to have this time of year. The bready part has a more subtle flavor, leaving the sweetness up to the cranberries, the orange and the icing, which I appreciate & in my opinion is what makes a good cookie.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
5 stars!!! I like to rate recipes based off the exact recipe and following the directions exactly. I followed it exactly (i hate 'except', but i have to say...) except i only had less than 1/4 cup of vegetable oil (i did not have applesauce to make up the difference), so i made the difference up with the only other oil i had which is extra virgin olive oil. Anyhow... uh-ma-zing bread!!!

B Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
These are great! I do not even feel guilty eating these! (215 calories per muffin) There is a delicate balance of flavors here and each flavor compliments the other. The banana and blueberries enhance the wheats and brans rather than overpowering the muffin...and vice versa with the wheats and brans complimenting the fruit. This does not taste like cardboard...for those out there who may be skeptic of eating wheatey/braney foods. It is not too bland...not too sweet. Since I found out last year that applesauce can substitue for oil in baking 1:1 ratio, then I never use oil in my muffins, that is the only thing i did different with this recipe. (Side note: substituting apple sauce for oil does not add an appley taste in case you are concerned about that. Also, you can substitue honey for sugar 1:1 ratio in baking...but i did not do that in this recipe, so as to stick as close as possible to the recipe that was posted and give an accurate rating.) Enjoy!! And thanks jayne04 for posting this!!!!!!!

Ethiopian Cabbage Dish

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
Super good. The only thing is next time I will triple the salt, pepper, cumin and turmeric. I did double it as previous comments suggested, but for me it did not benefit enough for the cumin and turmeric flavoring. I highly suggest triple the spices. But even with only doubling it, it was still 4.5 stars.

Uglies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
i did rate this 4 stars, but I can't really say this particular recipes is good or not, because I didnt follow the recipe. However, I did springboard off the idea of it. I used: barbequed pork (from in a bowl near the deli section in the grocery store), layered on top chopped onions, then some corn kernels, then shredded cheddar cheese. for the biscuit dough, i smushed it flat with my palms instead of rolling it out, then sprinkled with garlic powder, salt and pepper. after i pinched together the tops of the biscuits after filling them in the tins, I brushed with melted butter and more garlic powder. hope all that makes sense. my hubbie and i liked them. my advice...have fun with the idea of it and put in it what you like. :)

Magpie's Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
I rated this recipe, but I had to adjust the ingredients according to what I had available. I also did not measure anything; I just went by how much I thought I wanted of each indredient and 'dumped it'. I had no mint, I did add red onions and pepper. Oh my, oh my...what a good dip! I am sitting here eating it with low-sodium wheat thins even now! :D
