Iowa Maid-Rites

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
This is okay, but not the recipe for maid-rites. Cook 1 1/2# ground beef with 1 small onion chopped fine. Drain fat and then add seasoned salt, 1 chicken bouillon cube and about 1/4 cup water. Cook for at least 30 minutes over low heat, adding more water if needed. Then turn heat up the last few minutes to evaporate extra liquid. This will get you so much closer to the real thing!

Cucumber Dip II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
Very light and cool dip. I placed out many veggies and things to dip with and found that pretzels worked great with it.

Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
These are very easy cookies to make. They were not my favorite, but my husband loves them, so I continue to make them from time to time.

Mac and Cheese II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
I have been making this for awhile and with a few changes this is a keeper. I add mustard powder and onion powder in with the flour. Then I mix in 1/2 cup of sour cream to the cheese mixture right before putting it in the baking dish. I add bread crumbs to the top for some crunch. I also usually add chopped chicken to the mac and cheese for a complete meal.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
This wasn't bad. Brought it to the families for the holidays and it was partially eaten. I personally think it had too much of a butter taste. If I make again I will try cutting out some of the butter and see if it's better.

Ranch Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
These burgers were very moist, juicy and flavorful! I left out the onion and replaced the crackers with some italian bread crumbs. These are best if made ahead and refrigerated for at least a few hours to let the flavors come together.

This is a great recipe that always goes very quick. I leave out the thyme and add garlic powder, onion power, and poultry seasoning.

S'mores Apples

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
These were soo yummy. They were quite messy and hard to eat though. I cut the apples into wedges just before serving so that they were easier to eat. Well worth the trouble.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
Good recipe. Nice alternative to jarred sauce. I like to put this on top of bow tie pasta and chicken with cheese on top and then bake until the cheese has melted.

Snickerdoodle Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
I made these to add to my goodie baskets for christmas. I thought it was odd to give a gift of cookies in a jar when you had to add the cinnamon and sugar from your own pantry. I didn't feel right giving almost all of the ingredients. I put the 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in colored cling wrap and tied it with a bow. I had room to put it inside my jar as I had extra room, but if you didn't you could tie it to the jar. Overall it turned out to be a nice gift

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
I started with this recipe to make what is now my usual pot roast. I add a package of brown gravy mix to the sauce and rub chopped garlic on the roast. Very good with veggies. I usually add baby carrots and red potatoes for the last 2 hours of cooking. sometimes I pan fry the roast first, but it's not necessary.

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
This was a very good recipe. The flavor was great. I made it the night before. My only complaint was that it was a little hard even after It sat out for a while. Next time I may try adding a little laughing cow cheese or sour cream to try and soften it up a little.

I used chopped broccoli instead of spinach because we are big broccoli fans. The recipe was pretty good, but was a lot of work.

Favorite Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
Very disappointing. Even though I cooked these the proper amount of time (which is way less than this recipe calls for), they came out dry and crumbly. I'll keep searching for the perfect recipe.
