About this Cook
Newlywed as of Sept 2007. Learning how to cook things my husband and myself will enjoy.
My favorite things to cook
For the Summer, Salads and pasta salads with grilled Chicken or Fish. Winter I like Soups, Stews, and Chili for warmth. I love my is the best around - but I do not know the measurements, it is all done by eye. Perhaps one day I will figure out the measurements. I do use Hellman's Mayo (I think it is Best Foods brand, west of the Rockies) instead of an egg.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We look forward year 'round to my mothers Thanksgiving and Christmas. We usually have 20+ people trying to get an invite to have her Chicken and dressing, Green beans with shallots in burned butter, Pecan Pie, and Pumpkin Roll, my dad's fried turkey, My Strawberry Pretzel Salad, and My sister's homemade Macaroni and Cheese.
My cooking tragedies
I burned water once (Just kidding)

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
Exellent recipe. The only changes I made was the use of bone-in chicken which I pulled at the end. Dropped 1 can of dough inside the mix 1.5 hours until the end, then took the second can and topped the mixture and cooked in the oven for specified time on the can. Rave reviews all around!

Mama's Tomato Gravy
Since before we were married my DH asked me to make Tomato Gravy...I though ugh yuck. How little did I know, and how wonderful is this recipe! Thanks for posting it.

Pork Marsala
Hubby loved it. I also fixed it the next day and used Chicken - it worked very well, also.
