Halloween Brain Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
This was fabulous fun! The red/blue 'fruit-by-the-foot' was perfect to use for the veins. I cut very thin strips and wet them slightly before pushing them into the folds of the cauliflower. For those having issues with the cauliflower falling apart: Simply carve out a small hollow at the stem area and then spoon the dip generously over the top of the 'brain'. Do not dig out a large 'bowl' in the cauliflower or it will fall apart. Guests LOVED this presentation--thanks Annie!

Halloween Bloody Baked Rats

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
This was so much fun to make and serve! I used limp asparagus spears for the tails and almond slivers for the ears. The cheese did bubble through as it baked, however it simply added to the gore of the dish. Great Halloween fun! Thank you for this recipe Angela!

Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
Wish I could give this recipe more stars! Perfect exactly as written--and I don't say that very often because I really love playing around with recipes! However, my daughters and I were baking on Christmas Eve and I asked my oldest to start on this recipe. I had intentions of changing things (like using half brown sugar) but forgot to mention the changes to my helper. By the time I realized, she had prepared the entire recipe exactly as directed. I am so glad she did! Perfect! The spices were just right with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that was pure yumminess!!! I am convinced there is no better Pumpkin Bread recipe out there. Thanks for sharing, Shirley!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Nice texture. Not very sweet. Next time I'll add some lemon juice/zest to perk up the actual muffin a bit.

Can't get much easier than this recipe for a macaroon! Not exactly the soft, fluffy cookie I was looking for but it sure does cure the coconut craving quickly :)

One Bowl Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
Fast and Easy! I used half semi-sweet chocolate chips and half milk chocolate chips. Next time I will use only the milk chocolate chips. I found I only needed 60 seconds in the microwave to melt the chocolate enough to be stirred smooth. So, I recommend checking every 30 seconds so you don't over-cook it and make it grainy. Thanks for the recipe!

Thin Mint Crackers

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
How crazy is this recipe?!? I can't believe I can make Thin Mints! With Ritz! LOL! I did as others suggested, using Andes creme de menthe baking chips. But, I do like my chocolate a little darker so I added 1/2 cup semi-sweet mini chips as well. I also made mine in small batches by melting about a half cup of chocolate in a custard cup in the microwave for 30 seconds. Because the small amount of melted chocolate stayed warm as I dipped my crackers, each cookie came out looking like a perfectly smooth thin mint. Thank you for this recipe!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
This summer we traveled to the South for the first time. My daugher, who had never even heard of 'Sweet Tea', fell in love with it and really missed it when we came home. I found this recipe and am so glad I can make it for her (even though I am not a fan!). I have even made it using Splenda and she loves it. Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
This is our new favorite slow-cooker recipe! Just as good as chicken-tortilla soup from the restaurants. Very economical too. My family likes spicy food, so I add about a cup of hot salsa and a can of diced green chiles. Smokin'Good!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
Like others, I mixed my sauce with my pasta, then layered as directed. Yumm-o! The key is the sour cream and plenty of it! I like it more than ricotta. This is easier than lasagna and, in my opinion, much better!

Boniet

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
I never had anything like this, but after all of the rave reviews, I wanted to try it with a nice Italian dinner. So glad I did. The whole family loved it and it was even better the next day. The second time I made it, I used one bunch of parsley and one bunch of cilantro-very yummy if you are a cilantro lover. Thanks for sharing your family recipe.

Lemon-Lime Soda Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
So happy to run across this recipe! It is very similar to one my mother made for all of the holidays. I made this exactly as stated in the recipe and it was very good. Next time I will try to re-create my mother's by using cottage cheese instead of the cream cheese. Also, the lemon-lime soda does add an interesting texture, but you can use water instead for a more traditional jello. Thanks for the recipe!

Pork and Sauerkraut Stew

Like others, I used an entire bag of sauerkraut. I omitted the browning sauce and used chicken breast instead of pork. Very good for a cold winter night!
