Me and Mason!
Our wedding :)
MY BABY BOY! Growing all up!
My mom and I
About this Cook
Newly married and trying to get the hang of cooking. I love making fun foods like appys and desserts, but putting together a real meal is my struggle. I wouldn't mind cereal for dinner every night but my husband disagrees...
My favorite things to cook
Baking of all kinds, cakes, pies, muffins, candy, fudge, any sweets, fun appetizers, dips, pasta of all kinds, casseroles, Mexican dishes- enchiladas are my specialty!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year at Christmas time my mom and great-grandmother would make a huge assorment of fudge and candy to last the season and for the family Christmas party. As a child I remember always being "sick" that day, so I could skip school and go to grandma's with mom. Now as an adult I always manage to get that day off work to continue our fudge tradition and wouldn't miss it for the world.
My cooking triumphs
My husband is a wonderful cook, so needless to say- I stick to the appetizers and deserts, and he usually makes dinner. Since he was working late he gave me instructions to his family's beef stroganoff recipe. I couldn't believe it was possible, but I actually made it just as good! It IS possible! I am getting better at trying new recipes and food. Since starting on AR I have actually become quite the cheesecake connoisseur, my family now likes mine better than Cheesecake Factory or Elis.
My cooking tragedies
Grandma and I- several times not paying attention with chocolate on a gas do the math! I have also burnt frozen pizza before, oh and tomato soup...canned tomato soup. So bad I had to throw out the pan... hey I was just getting used to a gas range!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
VERY good, in fact this was excellent. I will make this often. I had no idea chicken and dumplings could be so easy. I did use a small can of chicken broth and one can of water instead of all water, and did add garlic and some chopped carrots and celery, and only used about 1.5 cans of biscuits and there was still plenty of dumplings. I am excited for the leftovers for lunch! The recipe said 8 servings, although after dinner last night for just hubby and I there is really only 1 good bowl leftover. When I make this again I will double it so we have enough left over for a couple more meals.

Super Easy Chicken and Dumplings
I did not make this myself but provided the recipe for a co-worker, who made this for a family gathering. She indicated 5 stars! Everyone loved it and she said it was super fast and easy to put together, with chicken cooked can be put on the table in under 30 minutes. I am looking forward to trying it myself this week!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches
These were OK. They dried out quite a bit even after adding more sauce, and also adding ranch and cheese to the sandwiches. Kind of bummed, was super excited to try these and they sounded great, but did not turn out so great. I like the concept of the slow cooker pulled chicken, and will try something similar again but I will not make this recipe again as is. I am surprised everyone else liked it so much, I like chicken wings and DH loves them, so I thought this would be a sure hit but it was not.
