Microwave Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
Love it! This is the easiest, tastiest method of making corn on the cob.

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
This was good, but very labor-intensive. I normally don't spend this much time making dinner, and I'm not sure the result of my efforts warrant making this again. It was good, but not great.

Easy Cajun Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
This was a good "kitchen sink" recipe. I used what I had on hand to throw into the jambalaya. I used chicken, but not kielbasa. I used only 1/2 an onion and 1/2 a green bell pepper. I omitted the celery. I used Sriracha as my hot sauce. Overall, the dish was okay. The leftovers weren't eaten, which tells me a lot. Very filling, though! I think next time I will add a can of diced tomatoes.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
I halved the recipe, as I only had 1/2 pound spicy sausage on hand. This is the best classic sausage gravy to pour over fresh biscuits! Great recipe!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
I'm not a regular biscuit-baker, and I know I have a lot to learn still. I had to add about 1 more cup of flour to the dough in order to successfully roll it out and cut the biscuits. When they baked, the biscuits rose so high! I do think they were a little dry, but I attribute that to user error and being a novice at making biscuits. They were excellent with sausage gravy!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
I cut the amount of honey in half, used 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes, and did not use any cayenne pepper. The sauce alone tasted too sweet, but when baked into a pizza, the sauce was really good! So, my advice is to give the sauce a chance, even if you think it tastes too sweet. It might end up being just right on a pizza!

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
So good. Gobbled up at a cookout. Tip: make sure you line the baking sheet with a SINGLE piece of tin foil that is wide enough to cover the entire baking sheet. If you layer the tin foil (because it is not wide enough to cover the entire baking sheet), the caramelized brown sugar seeps between the layers and burns onto the baking sheet. Not fun to clean up!

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2011
Overall - a good recipe! The spaghetti sauce you choose for this dish makes or breaks the flavor. I chose Emeril's Home Style Marinara - big mistake; too sweet. I'll choose something different next time. I also used Italian-style Panko breadcrumbs, and the coating on my chicken was so wonderfully crispy! I will definitely use Panko again.

Strawberry Glazed Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2011
Something was "off" about this glaze... I think maybe too much corn starch or gelatin. The glaze thickened up super-quickly on the stovetop (one minute it was watery, the next minute it was thick and gel-like). It formed a good seal around my strawberries, but the taste was a bit artificial.

Perfect Berry Shortcakes

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
Best dessert I've ever made! Thank you for sharing this recipe with the world. I followed the recipe exactly, except I forgot to put vanilla in my whipped cream (didn't matter too much!). It was so divine. I asked my boyfriend what he thought after taking a few bites, and he said, "FIVE" (with his mouth full), meaning five stars on AllRecipes. :)

Italian Wedding Soup I

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
Really delicious soup! I followed other reviewers' suggestions and baked the mini-meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet for around 18 minutes at 375 degrees. I'm glad I did - I can't imagine the texture of the meatballs had I boiled them with the broth. I used two boxes of chicken broth and about 1/2 can beef broth (8 cups total?). I served the soup with sourdough bread, which was excellent for dipping!

Triple Bypass

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
My boyfriend thinks I should rate this 4 stars due to the unhealthiness of the dish. But that's the entire point of the dish! I did make some modifications: I added some pickled sliced jalapenos (dotted them over the meat mixture in the baking dish). I also omitted the Velveeta like other reviewers did, and substituted 1 cup of shredded cheddar and about 1/2 cup of shredded Gruyere (it was leftover from another dish). I put the cheese down after the jalapeños and placed the tater tots on top. So good!

Pastry Cream

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
My pastry cream came out too thick and slightly lumpy, despite whisking at all times mentioned by other commenters. I think I will decrease the amount of corn starch next time. I will also stick to egg yolks only, as I felt the cream tasted too egg-y. The cream did have a nice taste! UPDATE: I forgot to mention I used lactose-free milk, but I'm pretty sure this wasn't the reason for the lumpiness.

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
My boyfriend LOVED the sauce for these sloppy joes! He is a picky eater, so this is a huge compliment. I thought the sauce was slightly too sweet, so I added about a teaspoon more Worcestershire sauce and mustard after simmering for 30 minutes. I also doubled the recipe, which yielded 4 sloppy joe sandwiches and 1 sloppy joe hot dog.

It's Chili by George!!

This recipe was really good and I will make it again, but will add more meat next time. It definitely tasted better on the second day, rather than right from the stove.

Never Bitter Lemonade

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
I taste-tested this recipe against another lemonade recipe that was super-simple (just mix the lemon juice, water and sugar together). I totally thought this recipe would win since it involved making a simple syrup before mixing in the lemon juice... However, the other simpler recipe was hands-down more refreshing and overall more tasty. Had I not compared this to another recipe, I would have still rated it 4/5 stars.

Lemon Parmesan Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
I thought this was so yummy, but my boyfriend didn't think it was anything special (hence, my rating of 4). He thought there was too much butter. I don't. I agree that the sauce is thick (I added milk to thin it out), but the butter, lemon and sour cream go so well together!

Roasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
How can you not love garlic bread! Although I found the roasted garlic bulbs hard to handle once they were out of the oven (hot, slippery little suckers!), I did love the overall result of the bread. Will definitely make again!

Picante Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
I used this recipe when making chicken tacos one night. It was super easy to throw the chicken and sauce in the crock pot and then shred the chicken when it was done cooking. Very easy, but still I felt something was missing. Maybe it was the sauce I used. Overall, I think this recipe is a great starting point for recipes like chicken tacos or enchiladas... or even use this chicken to top a nice salad. Very versatile.
