Hello world! This is my first time blogging so please bear with me! The title of this is "Reminiscing"...if you glance at my hobbies you will see that one of them is genealogy. Working in one of the many genealogy sites out there, I started to think about when I was growing up and… MORE

About this Cook
I love to cook and bake for my hubby of 5 yrs and our mixed family (together we have 6...the youngest is 3), mostly the "meat and potato" type but I like to experiment with new recipes, sometimes it works,..sometimes no ... I love to see people sit down to one of my meals and have no leftovers!
My favorite things to cook
Lasagna, Meatballs, Potato Soup, Chicken Soup, Roast Beef ... I'm still finding out
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving of course but my next favorite is Christmas, I've taken to making lasagna (it reminds my hubby of his Mom)and now my kids don't want anything else!
My cooking triumphs
Recently...an Apple Cake I made up as I went, like I said I like to experiment!
My cooking tragedies
Ginger Orange Beef Stir Fry The recipe said the zest of one orange. I think they missed a few words, O my was it STRONG!!

Irish Champ
This is now a family favorite! I have made this a bunch of times already, though this most recent time I forgot to add the salt! It was a little bland the first day, but the leftovers (I make A LOT) had a wonderful green onion flavor that we never noticed before!

Irish Stew
This was FANTASTIC! I will admit it was the first time I ever tried cooking lamb, but since my husband can't eat corned beef, I wanted to make a traditional Irish stew for St. Patrick's Day. The only thing that I had omitted were the potatoes because I was serving the stew over Champ. Definitely a keeper! Thanks for the recipe!

Red Cabbage
This was absolutely fantastic! Tasted much better than the jarred that I usually buy!
