Autumn Glazed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
This was surprisingly good. I omitted the cranberry, used fresh nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, 2 Cups of apple cider, a little OJ and a little sweet vermouth. I had some onions left over from another meal that were sauteed with cider vinegar so I added those as well. I browned the chops then poured the sauce in the pan and braised for 1-1/2 hours. Very tender with a light apple flavor. Served over rice.

Bratwurst Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
Two cans of chicken broth was not enough, more like 4 cans. Also, I had to bring it back up to a boil for the cabbage to cook. I used fresh basil, and went heavy on the other spices and added black pepper. Other than that, this was very good. Like a boiled dinner without the potatoes.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
I also used a 3 1/2 lb. pork loin, and clos du bois carbernet sauvignon for the wine. I cooked it all day on low while I was at work and then turned it up to high for the last 1 1/2 hour. Really tender and great flavor. A nice change of pace from the normal roasted pork loin. I will make again!

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
This was really really good! I also used low sodium soy sauce and instead of oregano, I used ground ginger. I had 1 flank steak and 1 flat iron steak so I marinaded both. I will make this again.

Homemade Refrigerator Pickles

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
I added onions and jalapeno peppers to these. I thought it would give the pickles a sweet hot taste but it really didn't. All in all, not a bad pickle and really easy to make.

Orange Pork Stir Fry

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
Really different. I loved it! I used pork loin instead of tenderloin, cut it in paper thin strips, and used ground ginger instead of fresh. I also used the juice of one orange and a splash of bottled juice and doubled the recipe for the sauce. Served with brown rice.

Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
I also thought this was sort of bland. I used cream cheese and a little milk to thin it out. Added slat and pepper after it was finished. Salsa is also good with this dip.

Sirloin Marinara

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
I used Mid's Pasta Sauce, added fresh mushrooms, fresh oregano, basil, and parsley. I also used about a cup of merlot. The meat was very tender. A new twist on my old spaghetti sauce. Served with pasta instead of garlic mashed. Very good!

Kelsey's Favorite Stuffed Green Peppers

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2013
These are good with some adjustments. I only boiled the peppers for a few minutes, then ran them under cold water. I also used half tomato sauce from a can and half homemade spaghetti sauce, plus some Worcestershire in the meat mixture. I also added garlic to the rice water as another suggested.

Rutabaga Oven Fries

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2013
These are so good! Taste like a cross between a potato, sweet potato, and a carrot. We used kosher salt, pepper, and garlic powder. When they were done we sprinkled paprika. I would suggest flipping them a few times since ours burnt a little on the bottom.

Pork Steaks

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
I also dredged in flour and used sweet onions instead of green onion. Family said they were good! One word of advice, I cooked this in a calphalon pan on med high and the soy/butter mixture really carmalized the onion and garlic to the point I thought my pan was ruined (it came out with a short soaking) so be sure to cook on a lower temp.
