About this Cook
Sometimes,...most times! it seems to me that my life has very little order. I have two toddler daughters, a very large puppy, a screaming cat, some fish (they don't make much noise), and a husband that has been likened to a giant. I work at home, at our local grocery store, at my church... I work a lot! I enjoy my downtime and my cooking time when I have them, so when I get the chance to do these things, I revel in them! Other times, you can find me painting murals on the walls of my house, studying a book in a very concentrated manner, or cleaning like a madwoman. It is who I am.
My favorite things to cook
I like to make yummy things--chicken fajitas, fresh fruit salads, salsas, comfort foods... if it is yummy, I enjoy making it. If it's gross, then the dog either gets it, or (if he refuses), I throw it in the trash, and the dog and I never speak of it again.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad always made egg rolls on Thanksgiving, which were very tasty. I also like to make scads of cookies at Christmastime. Other than that... I like to make my family's birthday cakes for them.
My cooking triumphs
Ooh! The carne asada burritos that were so good, my husband decided to propose that night. :)
My cooking tragedies
Uhm... I made some pumpkin bars that never made it out of the pan. And some cheesecake brownies that were luscious, but strangely yellow in color. Besides that, not very many tragedies. Yet.

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
I cannot believe that I didn't think of this before! The sandwiches retain their shape better, and don't ever burn. We make our sandwiches with two different kinds of cheese--it adds something to it. Thanks, Michelle, for a great idea!

D's Famous Salsa
My husband and I adore this salsa, as does our 2-year-old daughter! It is very similar to the kind of salsa served at local Mexican cafes, but it's fun to make at home! Wonderful snack, or you can do what we like to at our house--- devour a bowl with a big bag of Tostitos, and call it dinner. YUM-MY!

Carla's Fruit Dip
Easy, yummy, and perfect for all kinds of fruit! I served this at a baby shower, and the mom-to-be wouldn't let anyone else near the bowl! Great for warm-weather get-togethers, especially when you have little time to prepare anything.
