Mona's Easy Refrigerator Pickles

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2013
Amazing! Thought I was in my Mom's kitchen! Hubby, being British, asked me to cut the sugar down a bit next time, but for me, they were perfect. Just for the heck of it, I added a tbsp of dill and a tsp of mustard seed (white). This is a top notch recipe! Thanks for the taste of home!

Kyle's Favorite Beef Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
I made this last night and actually followed the recipe. My husband, who is British, usually doesn't really like the American beef stews and prefers the potatoless UK ones. He all but licked his plate with this one. One thing I did, though, was what with living in the UK, I can get suet dumpling mix..so I did and they really fitted well with the stew. I'd think regular dumplings would be just as good. This recipe is a real keeper!

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
OMG!!! I made these tonight for my Scottish husband who has never in his life eaten ribs..Yet more of my country's food for him to try. He ate, he ate, and he ate some more! I've always boiled ribs first, but thanks Suzanne..will always bake them from now on. I, too, used BBQ sauce..about 3/4 cup for 4 servings and added ketchup to fill the cup measure. Not sure if I can mention a brand but it was the one with bourbon in it lol. This is a fantastic recipe and it will be permanently enshirined in my recipe box. They fall of the bone..and are soooo yummy..

Perfect Crab Cakes With Green Onions

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
I make excellent crab cakes (she says humbly) but liked the look of these. They were sinfully easy compared to mine and were absolutely to die for. I didn't change a thing except I used canned white crab meat. I can't wait to try it with fresh crab meat!

Rosenmunnar

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
These were excellent! I served them to the "ladies" and got rave reviews. I was pretty nervous because these were British women that weren't used to this kind of cookie. They gobbled them right up. All of them. A definite keeper!

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2008
One of the nicest porkchop recipes I've seen. Only additions I made were a pinch of garlic powder and I added a peeled and quarted onion in among the chops and basted it with the sauce. Make extra sauce! About 3/4 of the way thru the cooking time, it looks to be swimming in sauce and whammo..it sort of absorbs it all, so check and make sure you have sauce! Yummy, yummy porkchops!

Shrimp and Okra Gumbo

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
This is a super recipe. We like a lot of seasoning so I always end up tweaking things, and so of course, I did. I used frozen and thawed shrimp, but thawed them with a bit of garlic, onion and cayenne powder on them.(added the shrimp during the last minute of cooking) Also used about 2 tsp Old Bay, a pinch of thyme and about 2 tsp file powder for thickness. Turned out beautifully and will definitely make this again. Thanks for such a great recipe. Interestingly enough, this is a recipe that adapts well to British stuff..me being an ex pat.. and other than the Old Bay I brought back from Baltimore..it was all local stuff I used. A veritable taste of home!

Meatball Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
I made the meatballs. Yummy! Haven't tried the sauce because I made my own but if the sauce is as good as the meatballs, I'll go for it. Made enough of the meatballs to freeze and they are soooo good. Oh, forgot to mention..I baked them for 25 min. at 350.

Normal Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
This is possibly the best chicken recipe I have ever made. My super picky husband inhaled it and wants it again (and again) I just made a few changes. I only used 1/4 C. brown sugar and I added a dash of onion powder. Other than that, I just baked it as per the recipe. I served it with Maryellen's Baked Onions from on here and white rice. I was worried the tastes would be too similar but wow, did they ever work together!

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
Just totally fantastic. I, too, cooked it at 225 for 15 minutes and then turned it down to 350 for an hour. It was amazingly succulent and my very picky husband devoured it. I'll definitely make this one again!
