Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
I'm sorry...but I did NOT like these at all. I usually never fail at recipes, but this one I tried 2 times and both times flopped completely. In the first batch, I followed the recipe exactly. I followed the instructions exactly and that's where it went wrong. I thought that maybe this recipe isn't meant for the vigourous mixing and beater of a KitchenAid in order to result in an airy muffin, so I literally mixed the margarine and sugar in a bowl...with a spoon...a fork...a whisk. I was really skeptical at this point, but I stirred in the milk...with a spoon...and then a fork...and then a absolutely did NOT combine and was a mess. The second time around, I followed the recipe exactly except that I used a hand mixer. It worked great - you should change that in your instructions. The finished product was a mushy mess that stuck to the pan, regardless of the fact that it was very well greased - I have never had this problem before. In addition, I think there is WAY too much baking powder for this amount of batter - I found the muffins to have a very strange taste... This recipe seemed like it could have potential, but as it go. sorry!

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
YUM!! I didn't have soy milk so I added half a brick of silken lite tofu instead. I also added apple juice instead of sugar and ground the oats first, as previously suggested.

Oven Fried Sesame Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
I thought these were ok, but I didn't really see a point to the sesame seeds. I thought they might get toasted while on the potatoes in the oven, but they didn't. I would try these again, toasting the sesame seeds beforehand. Also, as a personal preference, I added a 1/2 tsp. lemon pepper.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
I made two chicken bottoms (with skin) with this recipe. I floured the chicken and seared it till crispy on both sides. I removed the chicken from the fire, placed in a baking pan over sliced potato rounds, and poured the sauce into the frying pan. I cooked it for a couple of minutes until thick and then poured it over the chicken and potatoes. I baked it tightly covered at 350 for 1 hour, and then uncovered it, raised the temp to 400 and baked for 20 minutes. It was AMAZING! I did not change a thing in the sauce - it was heavenly. I used Frank's Red Hot, and because it was so spicy, I may use a little less next time. But omg, it was sweet, spicy, and sticky all right! Definitely a keeper!
