Pumpkin Gingerbread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Wow, this is a really fabulous and moist recipe. I made it into a bundt cake and sprinkled powdered sugar on it for a Thanksgiving dessert and it got rave reviews from young and old alike. Like the other reviewers, I doubled the spices in the recipe. I also mixed the spices with the dry ingredients first to distribute the spice flavors evenly. Instead of water, I used milk and I decreased the sugar and the oil by half a cup each, and it still came out fabulous! The bundt cake took a bit longer to bake though... I had it in the oven for about one hour and 20 minutes before the toothpick came out clean.

Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
This is a really yummy soup. I was inspired to make this soup after having it at a dinner in Park City and this version was really close. To make it healthier and a little more like the one I had in Park City, I omitted the cheese and increased the chicken broth to 2 cups. I also used fresh salmon that I cut into cubes as well. It tasted really close to what I had in Park City. It's a keeper! (Oh, I also didn't have dill so I substituted a pinch of dried basil and thyme and it was still good!)

Buffalo Chicken Wings III

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
This was excellent! I didn't find any wings at the store so I used legs instead and they still turned out great! Because of the size difference, I baked for about 10-15 longer.

Deep Dark Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
Great taste and texture on this cake! I was a little concerned since the batter was so thin but it baked up really beautifully. To give it a little kick, I added a teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of chile pepper.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
These were delicious! I added a little bit of almond extract and the flavor was great! Chilled them overnight and then worked in small batches (keeping unused portion in the fridge until needed). When rolling them out, I took the advice of another read and used confectioner's sugar in place of flour to keep them from sticking to the cutting board or rolling pin. I rolled my cookies out about 3/8" and baked them for 9 minutes and they came out beautiful. Very tasty! *** UPDATE*** Made them another time using only 2 eggs (all I had) and adding in 1/4 almond milk and the result was great. Also only used 1 1/2 c sugar and added 1/2 cup packed brown sugar. They puff up a little in the oven so best to use cookie cutters with large designs.

Pear Pie III

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2008
This is a fantastic recipe, and rather easy to make. I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and "marinated" the pear slices in lemon juice while I prepared everything else, then sprinkled a little cinnamon on the top before putting it in the oven. People at work raved about it!

Strawberry Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
This is a wonderful recipe! I've never thought to make strawberry bread before but had a bunch of strawberries to use up. I halved the recipe and it turned out 6 small individual-sized loaves. The taste was wonderful and light.

Creamy Mushroom Soup

This was great! I substituted sliced leeks for the scallions. I also added one thick sliced bacon, diced and fried with 1 cup of corn to the soup afterwards.

Wow... this is a fabulous chocolate cake! I just made them into 12 jumbo-sized cupcakes and glazed them with the ganache from this site as well, and topped with a strawberry. Beautiful and delicious!

Ultimate Double Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
OMG... this is fantastic!!! I followed the recipe exactly, and then added in a cup of Heath chips, then rolled the dough into balls and they baked up perfectly! I think for the holidays, I'll add in chopped candy canes. These are spectacular... like a fudge brownie cookie with a crisp crust. My new favorite cookie recipe!

Marbled Almond Roca

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
This is so addictive! I doubled the recipe to make enough for a larger cookie sheet. I stirred the nuts into the caramel before pouring in the pan and used all semisweet chocolate chips instead, then sprinked sea salt on top. FABULOUS! Another variation that my husband and friends love is using white chocolate and crushed candy canes... so YUM!

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2011
Yumm! So simple and so tasty. After reading the other reviews, I let it simmer for 20 minutes and also used a potato masher to mash up the broccoli so it was nice and hearty. The only thing I added was some salt. Will definitely make again. Thanks for the recipe!

Madeleines II

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
Like previous reviewer... I thought Madeleines were supposed to be dense, rich cookies. These came out light and fluffy for me. They are good, but not what I was expecting as Medeleines.
