Good Ol' Alabama Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
I'm from the South and this is a good recipe. However, I would recommend cutting back on the sugar. I use 1 and 1/2 cups at the very most. If you get cloudy tea, try letting the steeped tea cool for about 30 minutes before stirring it into the sugar.

Creamy Carrot Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2012
This was really good soup and easy to make too! I used a few more ounces of broth than what the recipe called for. Because some of the broth evaporated during the 30 minute cook time, I had to add a little water to make the veggies easier to blend. I don't care for sweet soup so I left out the ginger and I used half-and-half (because it's what I had). The soup was still super rich and yummy! I'll be making it again.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
This recipe was awesome! It was the first time I have ever made bread and it came out perfectly! I don't care for overly sweet bread, so I took another reviewer's advice and reduced the sugar to three tablespoons. I used my regular beaters to mix in the salt and oil and then switched to bread hooks when I started adding flour. When the flour was almost all mixed in, I turned the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and kneaded it for two or three minutes. Every step went like clockwork and there was very little mess to clean up. The bread hadn't even cooled enough to handle before my family was begging for slices of it. The texture was perfect. The shape was perfect. The taste was perfect!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
I love chocolate chip scones! I used to pay big bucks for them at a local bakery - now I make my own. I do add a little more sour cream to mine because I prefer my scones to be more moist.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2010
This recipe is AMAZING! I heard in on the radio around Super Bowl time. I have made it several times and it is always a hit. You can't eat just one piece! The only thing I do differently is melt the butter and pour it over the uncooked cheesecake. Then I sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top and cook. This is one of those recipes that you'll make over and over!

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
These pretzels were really fun and easy to make. My kids loved them and ate them as a snack. I made them according to the directions and they came out really well. However, they were a little sweet for me, so I'll definitely cut down the sugar the next time I make them. The directions state roll each piece of dough into a rope. I found it was difficult to roll the dough on a lightly floured surface. I needed the dough to be just a "tad" tacky to roll properly.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
***EDITED*** I previously complained the batter was too thick. However, I tried these again, making them according to the directions, and the thick batter actually makes these makes these perfect. I used the "sour milk" method in place of buttermilk and it is a perfect alternative (I'll never buy buttermilk again). I will definitely make these again.

Mafioso Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
This cake was awesome! I was so tired of the weird taste that boxed cakes have, so I decided to try this one. I highly recommend using cake flour as the recipe indicates. This flour makes the cake so light and delicate. I used a buttercream frosting the first time. However, I can't wait to try the La Famiglia Chocolate Frosting that's included with the recipe.

Seven-Up® Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This cake is amazing! I took Serenity's advice and made a few modifications in the prep work. The cake was beautiful and so moist. It was definitely worth the extra effort. This will be a cake I make over and over.

Six-Layer Coconut Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
This cake was so good! I will definitely make it again. The only change I made was to use lemon juice and lemon extract in the filling instead of orange juice and orange extract. It was perfect for the lemon lovers in my family.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
In my on-going quest to eliminate all processed and pre-packaged foods from my home, I decided to make my own alfredo sauce. This recipe was wonderful! It was so rich and creamy and the taste was fantastic. I used Parmesan that was pre-grated at the store and it didn't melt very well. I think I'll either try to grate my own or try Rebecca's suggestion of substituting Gruyere cheese next time. Thanks for a quick and easy recipe! UPDATE: I tried this recipe again grating my own Parmesan cheese and it came out perfect! Great recipe - so quick and easy!

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2013
This recipe is amazing! I love it. When I first started making it in my bread maker, the loaves were kind of compact, but still good. I made this bread for several weeks before I made a discovery. If you use 1 cup of warm milk (110 degrees) instead of water, the bread loaf will be almost twice the size. I don't use bread machine yeast, just regular yeast. However, I do use bread flour. The loaf made with milk was lighter, had an even better flavor and produced far fewer crumbs than the loaf made with water. My family ate the entire loaf within two hours. This recipe will definitely be a staple in our house.

This was so yummy! I left out the dill weed because I didn't have any, but it was fine. Very easy to make. This will definitely make a return to my dinner table.

This was very good. The glaze is very light. The chicken makes excellent Hawaiian chick salad.

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
This pizza sauce is great! It's the only kind I use now. Sometimes I grate a little Parmesan cheese into the sauce. You can also freeze any left over sauce for the next time you make pizza.

Butter Rich Spritz Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
I wasn't able to get these cookies to work. The dough was so dry the cookies fell apart the minute they came out of the press. The raw dough tasted fine, but I wasn't even able to shape them by hand for baking. I think it is the amount of dry ingredients versus wet ingredients that cause the dough to fall apart.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies VII

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
This is absolutely the BEST oatmeal raisin cookie recipe I have ever baked or eaten! I followed the recipe almost exactly. I don't like the look or texture of whole oats in my cookies. So I put my oats in the blender and grind them into a fine powder. I also followed another reviewer's advice to place the raisins in a microwave dish, cover with water and cook for 5 minutes. Then let them stand for 10 minutes more. My cookies were still soft and chewy three days later!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
This dish was fantastic! It took 5 minutes to throw together and it made the whole kitchen smell wonderful. I wasn't so sure about the zesty Italian dressing, but I decided to try it. It really added to the flavor. On a bun with dill pickles = YUMMY! This one is definitely a keeper.
