Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2013
This recipe is amazing! I love it. When I first started making it in my bread maker, the loaves were kind of compact, but still good. I made this bread for several weeks before I made a discovery. If you use 1 cup of warm milk (110 degrees) instead of water, the bread loaf will be almost twice the size. I don't use bread machine yeast, just regular yeast. However, I do use bread flour. The loaf made with milk was lighter, had an even better flavor and produced far fewer crumbs than the loaf made with water. My family ate the entire loaf within two hours. This recipe will definitely be a staple in our house.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2013
This recipe was easy to make. The crust had a good flavor and texture and everyone who ate it really liked it. However, it was difficult to work with because the ingredients did not yield four pie crusts (as stated by a previous reviewer). When I separated the dough into four equal pieces and tried to roll it out, it was almost impossible to get the crust large enough to fit in the pie dish. I had to roll it so thin that it started to dry out and split. I managed, but if you're just beginning your pie-making adventure, you may find it frustrating. I'll use the recipe again, but I'll remember the amount of dough will make three pie crusts generously.

Creamy Carrot Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2012
This was really good soup and easy to make too! I used a few more ounces of broth than what the recipe called for. Because some of the broth evaporated during the 30 minute cook time, I had to add a little water to make the veggies easier to blend. I don't care for sweet soup so I left out the ginger and I used half-and-half (because it's what I had). The soup was still super rich and yummy! I'll be making it again.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
This dish was fantastic! It took 5 minutes to throw together and it made the whole kitchen smell wonderful. I wasn't so sure about the zesty Italian dressing, but I decided to try it. It really added to the flavor. On a bun with dill pickles = YUMMY! This one is definitely a keeper.

Uglies

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
I gave this recipe four stars because it was so simple to make and to alter. However, my family didn't really care for the BBQ flavoring in the dish. We are planning to make these again with pizza sauce and toppings. We are also going to try a filling of chicken and veggies with cheese.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
This was so yummy! I left out the dill weed because I didn't have any, but it was fine. Very easy to make. This will definitely make a return to my dinner table.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2010
This recipe is AMAZING! I heard in on the radio around Super Bowl time. I have made it several times and it is always a hit. You can't eat just one piece! The only thing I do differently is melt the butter and pour it over the uncooked cheesecake. Then I sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top and cook. This is one of those recipes that you'll make over and over!

This was a very creamy recipe. Nice flavor. I added peas and cooked, sliced carrots to the casserole before baking.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
This frosting was AWESOME! It was so easy to make. I added 2 - 4 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice and that gave it a nice kick. I ended up with a lot left over, so I put in in a baggie and stuck it in the freezer. It was just as good the second time and I didn't have to stir it or anything. I just spread it on the cake.

Good Ol' Alabama Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
I'm from the South and this is a good recipe. However, I would recommend cutting back on the sugar. I use 1 and 1/2 cups at the very most. If you get cloudy tea, try letting the steeped tea cool for about 30 minutes before stirring it into the sugar.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
This dish is super easy to make. We love it. The sauce is rich and thick. However, to save myself aggravation, I line my cooking sheets with foil and grease the foil. It doesn't matter how much you grease a baking sheet, you will have to scrub ... a lot!

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
These enchiladas are so easy. The flavor is really good. My family loves this dish and I make it several times a month. If you have any left over chicken mixtures, it freezes well too.

This was very good. The glaze is very light. The chicken makes excellent Hawaiian chick salad.

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: May 22, 2010
This pudding is AMAZING! It's the first time I have ever made or eaten banana pudding. It was so good. My husband loved it. All he could keep saying was, "Mmmm. Mmmm. Mmmm." I'm so glad I found a new way to get rid of my ripe bananas.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: May 15, 2010
I gave this recipe four stars because my family enjoyed it. I made it exactly as the recipe states and it came out just fine. However, it wasn't what I thought it would be. I was expecting a tiramisu-like cake. It just tasted like a sweet, wet cake.

Juicy Lucy Burgers

These burgers were pretty good. Make sure you seal the patties really well or you'll have cheese all over your pan! My family enjoyed them. I will definitely make these again.

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
This pizza sauce is great! It's the only kind I use now. Sometimes I grate a little Parmesan cheese into the sauce. You can also freeze any left over sauce for the next time you make pizza.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
These pretzels were really fun and easy to make. My kids loved them and ate them as a snack. I made them according to the directions and they came out really well. However, they were a little sweet for me, so I'll definitely cut down the sugar the next time I make them. The directions state roll each piece of dough into a rope. I found it was difficult to roll the dough on a lightly floured surface. I needed the dough to be just a "tad" tacky to roll properly.
