Date Night #1

We welcomed our baby boy into the world last summer!  He is our first & has brought us so much joy and happiness.... It takes ALOT of energy and focus to keep a newborn happy, healthy & wise.  Sometimes what takes a back seat is the attention & time you spend with your best friend.  Today I had a brilliant idea!!   On Friday nights after we put the Lil Pooch to bed, we will make dinner together and it will become a Friday night tradition...the recipe would be selected from here - Allrecipes.com   We will spend time in the kitchen - chatting about our week & catching up over a hot stove and perhaps a bottle of wine!  *Note - some background on us....Our lovely name for each other is Pooch.   This evolved after a year of dating.  It started by us saying "smooch" to each other.   Then "smooch" evolved to "smooch-e" and "smooch-e" evolved to "pooch-e" which ended simply as "pooch"  (an alternative is Scungilli...only to be used when one of us is behaving badly (more so him them me...hahaha)   .....I digress    I came home tonight with the above mentioned idea.....  And so we begin!

Date Night #1 ... Good Friday's Supper was http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Shrimp-and-Mushroom-Linguini-with-Creamy-Cheese-Herb-Sauce/Detail.aspx<      It was a success!!!   My Big Pooch HATES mushrooms - after reading a few reviews I substituted mushrooms with spinach!  My main critique is to add some salt!  Even though we normally avoid extra salt, it was def needed!   Per other reviews we used broth instead of water (veggie of course - its GF) to "smooth the sauce"  Otherwise we followed as written.  Will def make again!   I plan to give this 4 outta 5 stars!!   In future blogs I hope to take  pictures of our night. BUT to start out - here is photo of when it all officially began!   Cheers!

Honey and I had our little one in September. We've started date night about once a month we drop her off at Grandma and Grandpa's and go out to eat without her although all we really want to do is go home a sleep. Baby Girl doesn't go to sleep until 9:30 for the night so we would be eating pretty late if we waited on her!

I'll say it's hard to leave her though but we think it is good for her to be under the care of someone else and we don't have much other reason to go out without her and it let's the family spend some time with her also.

Such a worthy, and potentially do-able goal. Careful, though, you may end up with a pouch full of pooches if you keep THAT up!

What a super idea. Welcome and I enjoyed your starter. You may have noticed that the AR blog editor is fairly limited and sometimes cranky, so a lot of us have signed up to a free Blogger site (I'm with www.blogger.com) and we make our entries there, load up photos into thta, format and chnage colours, fonts etc etc. Finally, when we want to post, we cut copy from the Blogger, and paste it into AR. I bet you do that yourself before long!

My husband and I need a date night once in a while. We are great grandparents now. However two of those greats live with us. Before that we raised there mother, our grandaughter. We have yet to experience that empty nest syndrome and probably won't ever eperience it. It is really hard to find time to be together just the two of us.We will be married 50 years October 12th.
