Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
i loved these! I did not chill them, or roll them, just dropped them onto the pan and they turned out fine. like some other users, i split the dough into 3rds, one plain, one with mini chocolate chips, and one with multi colored raisins. they were very soft and tasty - i used sea salt instead of regular salt and i wish i had used a tad more for a little more contrast.. (I did use unsalted butter b/c it was all i had.. so maybe that was it..) - thank you for the recipe it was great and i will make them again!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
This is sooo good! This was my first time ever baking bread. The whole house smells yummy and it is sweet and warm and goodness-y! Thanks for this recipe! I am on my way to the in-laws right now to give them a loaf!

Juicy Thanksgiving Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I made this turkey yesterday.. It was great! The only thing I changed was that we didn't have any champagne.. So in addition to the chicken broth, my husband decided to add a bottle of Mikes Light Hard Lemonade to it... This turkey was moist and very flavor-filled. I did find thaqt it had to cook longer than 3 hours, and I upped the temperature after a while, but we were in no rush to eat do it was not an issue. Thanks so much for this recipe, I will definitely make it again next year!

Southern Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
This was great! This was my first ever attempt at fried cabbage! I made it exactly as stated, using an electric skillet.. It turned out perfect! I was afraid hubby wouldn't like it but he loved it, and my 8 yr old daughter did too! We will definitely make this again! Thank you so much for the recipe!

Tomato Basil Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
I prepared this with bowtie pasta, and since I did not have any fresh basil, I used dried.. I sauteed the onion and garlic, and only put 5 tblspoons of olive oil in it.. I thought it was very good, and my daughter (she is 6) thought it was great too! My husband did not like it at all (that is why I rated it a 4). Next time I make this (when he is out of town LOL) I will add some wine to it for just a bit more flavor.. I really liked it as is, but I think that will give it that finishing touch.. Thanks so much for this recipe!

Roasted Vegetable and Beef Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
My family thought this was great! I didn't have 2 pounds of beef, but I cut the cubes into smaller pieces, and I think it was fine... Next time I will buy a bigger pack of meat.. I also did not use the wine/bay leaf/tomato paste.. But followed the roasting instructions, etc.. I was sooo good! My in laws were over for dinner and they raved over it.. I served it with french bread (and butter) and 'Sarah's Applesauce' (also from this site - it was DELISH) - I barely had enough of anything for my lunch today! I will definitely make this again - (and check out Sarah's applesauce too, it was great!)

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
I have never made actual home-made applesauce before.. This was fantastic! I reviewed several of the comments, and followed their advice at the store, I bought 2 of several different varieties of apples.. I wound up using 5-6 large apples.. Instead of cooking them in a saucepan, I put them in a microwave safe bowl, and nuked them for 7 minutes.. Then I mashed them with a potato masher, and put them back in for another 7, and mashed them again.. This was superb! I had my in-laws over and they all loved it.. Still warm and a bit chunky, nice and sweet! Thanks so much! This is going into my favorites!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
This was a great way to prepare stuffing! My DH said that it started out smelling like Stove Top (after all the time my little hands spent chopping and measuring, that was NOT the right thing to say! LOL) - but retracted his previous statement when he tasted it.. He said it was wonderful, and I had lots of compliments from it! A friend that was over for Turkey Day asked for the recipe! And for it to be cooking on it's own in the crockpot (and away from my main workspace) was especially nice! Thanks so much for this recipe!

Grandma's Pork Chops in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
This was a really good recipe! The only ingredient variation I made was fresh mushrooms. The beef broth I used came in a 14.5 oz can, so I used the left over broth in the dutch oven when the chops were 'just browned,' and I went ahead and put them in the oven with the broth.. This way it didn't take quite as long to bake them.. As soon as my mushroom mix was completed, I poured all of it in together.. The meat was VERY tender, and I liked the sherry taste in it.. I rarely cook with wines, so this was a nice change! I served with mashed potatoes, corn and biscuits.. Thanks for the recipe!

Apricot Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
I made this for my husband and 6 yr old daughter.. The only change I made was that I didn't have any soy sauce, so I substituted that with Open Pit BBQ sauce (probably not the best choice sweet-wise) - My family really liked it alot, but since I used the BBQ instead of soy sauce, I think I diluted the sweetness of the apricot preserves. I liked it, but thought it should be just a little sweeter, but like I said, I think that was my own fault.. I made this with baked potatoes and peas.. I will make this again, but will either use a sweeter bbq sauce or the soy.. Thanks for the recipe!

Slumber Party Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
I used canned chicken for this (2 large cans) but made the rest of the recipe to spec.. My daughter and I liked it, but my DH couldn't get past bbq chicken on a pizza crust.. (oh well!) - thanks for the recipe!

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
This was good! I accidentally put the garlic powder in with the rest of the seasonings, (I should have pre-read it first, shame on me!) - but it did not really over power like I was afraid of.. I made this with lemon garlic pasta and the flavors went well together. I also steamed some green & wax beans and served with iced tea. Thanks for the recipe!

Broccoli Cheese Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
This was ok, but I like just plain broccoli and melted cheese just as well, without as much work! I do appreciate the recipe though, it was fun to make!

Slow Cooker Dump and Go Cheesy Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
I slow cooked this yesterday.. I work 12 hour shifts, and it takes me 1 hour each way to get home.. Sooo, I slow cooked this on low, and hoped for the best.. I was afraid it would either be cooked into mush, or set my house on fire.. But alas, it was just fine! The chicken was super tender and I actually liked the cheese soup in it.. I didn't think I would like it, (I thought it would taste too processed) but it was nice, b/c it was already done when I got home. My hubby got home before me in time to make rice a roni as a side and left over broccoli bake.. Probably not the healthiest dinner I have ever made, but was one of the easiest! Thanks for the recipe!

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2007
Whew! this was spicy!!! I like spicy stuff, but even I had a coughing fit during dinner!! It was my fault though.. I couldn't find a 4oz can of jalepenos, so I bought sliced ones, and guessed on the 4oz part. I had a scale to weigh them on, but they musta been spicier than canned, plus I chopped them up myself, so I think that brought out the HOT! I wound up putting a dollop of sour cream on top, and then kinda mixed it up in my bowl to tame the taste a bit.. I put a good bit of sour cream in the rest of the chili, and added water and more chicken broth to bring it down too.. Hopefully my hubby will like it, daughter thought it was too spicy (she is 6.) but she still liked it.. Thanks for the recipe, I will be making this again, minus so many jalepenos!!
