A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I get easily disgusted with reviewers that complain about how easy a recipe is while on this site. Yes, this recipe is simple, but it gives everyone a base to start from, or a very quick easy recipe. This site is not just for advanced cooks. Even though I have been cooking for myself for years, I have never actually cooked... chicken... before I tried this recipe. And, it is because this was the simplest, most un-intimidating recipe that i choose this one. I, of course, followed a couple of reviews advice and tweaked the recipe (mostly due to the fact that I just moved and cannot find my onion powder or my garlic powder!) So, I added a medium sized handful of freshly chopped vidalia onions, a couple tablespoons of jarred minced garlic (mmmmm...) in with the 3 tablespoons of butter (and a little added olive oil) I also added a cube of chicken bullion and extra water after browning the chicken on both sides and let the chicken simmer in the mixture for a probably around 15-20 minutes. After removing the chicken, I added a little more water and flour (around 3 spoonfuls) to form a thick sauce. I served over rice, and my mother loved it. It also smelled remarkable while cooking, and my mother and my brother's girlfriend wouldn't stop telling me how good it smelled in the house. I will have to try it out again!

This frosting was great! I followed the recipe exactly as written, and had no problems with spreading it onto the brownies i made. It tasted great, and it tasted phenomenal on brownies! Just splat some on and spread it with a spatula, no problems!

Great! Followed the recipe ingredients almost exactly. Upped everything up for 1.5 lbs meat, and added some recommended oatmeal for stickiness. Also only simmered for about 15 minutes. Boyfriend and his friend loooved it. =) Will definitely make again.

PHILLY Pesto Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
I really enjoyed this. I made a trial batch tonight before trying it out of my boyfriend. I followed the recipe almost exactly, but i used italian seasoning instead of fresh basil. I'm sure with fresh basil it would have been even better, but I did not have any available. It's very creamy, it's nice that it's cream cheese and not cream (like alfredo sauces, as I cannot eat those) Very good.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
My boyfriend and my good friend devoured this, and my boyfriend made me add it to my list of regular slow cooker meals. I did change some of the recipe thanks to the reviews. First of all, I used one can cream of mushroom and one can cream of chicken, and replaced the water with chicken broth. I put four very large pieces of frozen chicken in the slower cooker and shredded them when I went on lunch break. I also added salt, pepper, cumin, and garlic powder (I put garlic in EVERYTHING) After 4 and a half hours, I put in a 16 oz giant roll of biscuits (my favorite part of chicken and dumplings!) and it took much longer than 30 minutes to cook all the way through, more like an hour to an hour and a half. Delicious!! and VERY filling!

Mini Cheesecakes I

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
These were so much fun! I haven't made cheesecake in years, so I was a little worried when I started making these. But, they turned out delicious! I replaced the vanilla wafer with regular graham cracker crust (my favorite part of cheesecake!) and I used the regular sized muffin cups instead of the mini ones (mainly my eyes just skipped over the miniature word, but they still turned out great) I made some plain, and some with cherry filling. I stuck them in the fridge a couple minutes after pulling them from the oven, and most all of them set very well. (I was having problems telling when they were done no thanks to my uneven oven...)

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
This was excellent. My roommate and my boyfriend (and myself) devoured this chili. I looked over a lot of the reviews, and followed many of the advice given. I substituted 1 can diced tomatoes with green chili for 1 of the cans of tomato soup. I added a handful of chopped peppers and a dash of cayenne. I also browned the turkey the night before with the chopped onion. The most time consuming part of putting it together in the morning was opening the cans!!

Mom's Island Treasures

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
These cookies were great! My older sister devoured them, and she can not stand coconut!! I did cut out most all the salt because I used salted butter. I also used a little bit less butter than what the recipe called for, and upped the coconut, pecans, and chocolate chips by 1/2 cup. However, for the next time I make them, I will try using more finely chopped coconut for my sister's sake. =)

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
This was very good! I followed the recipe exactly, usually I look at the reviews, but I was in such a hungry hurry that I didn't. WAY TOO MUCH PEPPER. It was delicious despite this, but I would probably cut it in half next time. Definitely will try it again!

Cinnamon-Curry Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
This was pretty good. At the initial first taste, I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but by the end of my sandwich i really, really enjoyed it. It does offer an odd taste that not everyone will enjoy, but I found the cinnamon curry taste very delicious. I did not use dijon mustard, but instead regular yellow mustard, and switched olive oil for mayo (mainly because I have a very hard time digesting mayo.

Stuffed Peppers My Way

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
These were delicious! I did make some changes to suit my taste. I cut out the extra salt, the feta did take care of all the saltiness needed. I unfortunately, did not have any tomatoes on hand, which is a pity, but I added some corn. All in all, I would definitely make this again. Super cheap when the ingredients are on hand, and very very delicious!

Creamy Pesto Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
Very delicious!!! I used Penne Pasta (that's all I had on hand), half the amount of Fat Free Half and Half instead of whole cream, margarine instead of butter, and crab meat instead of shrimp. It turned out really awesome! Super creamy (despite my cut of cream) and delicious.

Creamy Penne Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
i really enjoyed this dish! I didn't have any tomatoes on hand, so I had to leave those out. (I really wish I had had some though!) and I added crab meat in. Despites using dried spices, it was still delicious and so creamy! I also used rotini noodles because that's what i had on hand. ( I love cream cheese, which is probably why i enjoyed it so much

Pineapple Enchiladas

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
Alright, I actually enjoyed these! I love pineapple in food, but i am still not sure how i feel about spicy pineapple. Though, I found with all the cheese I added (I added extra.) it was quite filling. I also added a mexican blend cheese in addition to the cheddar. The only problem I had with it was that I did use hot enchilada sauce, and it was a little too spicy for me. Otherwise, as long as your enchiladas are even, the presentation is very nice!

Peanut Butter and Banana French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I was actually kind of disappointed with the product, and I was so excited about it too. (PB and banana being a favorite.) However, It turned out just fine, I just wasn't a big fan of the overly gooey warm peanut butter. It was good, and I might make it again and try to get it just right for me.

Crunchy Tuna Turnovers

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I really enjoyed these (as did my bf!) However, I left out the olives (I just really don't like olives), and I used two smaller biscuits to make a larger one. Additionally, I used crushed ritz crackers instead of potato chips(didn't have any on hand.) They were good, but I wish they had a little more zest, which next time I'll use more lemon pepper. The ritz added a really nice crunchy texture, but gave it a different taste than the chips. (More bready.) And, they were fun to eat and looked great. =) update: I have made these a couple times and have finally perfected it to my liking! I double the amount of lemon pepper to 1/4 tsp, and it adds a lot more zest to the taste. I've used many different crunchy things on them, and so far our favorite has been... crushed up pretzels! My least favorite has been the potato chips- i just feel they make the turnover too salty. Mmm..
