Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
This pot roast turned out very tender and my house smelled great all day as it cooked in the slow-cooker. I was disapointed with the gravy though. It was too rich and really over-powered the roast. Next time I will make another recipe with a more natural tasting gravy.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
I love this recipe! It is so easy and makes a great dinner! You can mix it up by using other herbs, like thyme, in addition to the rosemary or adding some cream to the wine sauce. Either way, it is always a favorite!

Very good and super moist! It is not too sweet, which is really nice. My husband gobbled this up!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
Amazing! I scaled this recipe down and made two generous single servings. I made some slight changes to the recipe by using chicken breasts with the skin and ribs and baking them with some white wine before cubing. I also blind baked the crusts for about 7-10 minutes and let them cool before adding filling. Sooo much better than the frozen kind!

Creme Brulee French Toast

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
Soooo good and easy too! I made this for my in-laws and got great reviews, a little sweet for me though. I used orange zest in place of the grand marnier. I will make this again for sure.

Spaghetti Sauce II

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2007
Fantastic! Like other cooks, I used the the ingredients I had at home, like 2 cans of whole tomatoes(instead of 1) and 1 can of tomato sauce in place of the tomato paste. I also used 1/2 italian sausage and 1/2 ground beef and used a lot more wine (a zin). Very yummy!

Easy Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Maybe I used too much garlic, but I didn't care for this at all.

Hot Fudge Pudding Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
Delish and really easy! The cake is really dense and chocolate-y and the sauce is nice and smooth. I was a little disapointed with the flavor of the sauce, but it was still really yummy. I will definately make this again!

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
This is a great recipe! I used 2 chicken breasts, sliced them in half to make 4 thin pieces and then cut them in to smaller strips. I double breaded them, using 2 eggs and the whole breading recipe. They turned out perfect and super crispy. I will be making this again!

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
This is my "go-to" pie recipe. It is sooo good and I love how pretty it looks when it is done! You have to make sure to really cook the lemon filling for the full time after adding the egg, otherwise it will "bleed" alot after the pie is cooled!

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
These were really great! I followed the advice of other reviewers and added nutmeg and cinnamon to the batter and used three apples: one grated, two chopped. My only problem was that I cut the apples a little too big and the muffins were too soft where each huge chunk had been. Next time, I will cut the 2 apples in to smaller pieces (about quarter inch size?) and still use 1 grated apple. I also doubled the crumb topping! Yum!

These were suprisingly good, since I didn't use onion powder or parsley! They were not too crumbly and had a nice flavor.

Hazelnut-Crusted Salmon

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
Kind of gross... Maybe I needed to chop the hazelnuts even smaller? Either way, we scraped the topping off to eat the salmon plain.

Turned out great! It took about 5 minutes in the microwave and next time I might to 6 to thicken it a bit more...

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

These were AMAZING right out of the oven and for a day or so, then they got really dry and crumbley... even though I stored them in a zip-lock. I will probably make them again anyway... :)

Chicken Savoy

Nothing out of the ordinary, but still good. If I make this again, I will reduce the balsamic to a syrup and marinate longer.

Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
A good twist on the ordinary canned sauce. I used the Newman's own with all the spices, so I went easy on the basil and garlic and served over tortellini. Yum!
