About this Cook
Love the outdoors. Enjoy spending time in the kitchen experimenting with a basic recipe and then turning it into my own.
My favorite things to cook
Soups, stews, chowders, lasgana, omlette's and multi-layer sandwiches.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking turkey, canning carrots and pickles, making Mom's pancakes, Grandma's Apple Pie, my own style of pumpkin pie (either real pumpkin or cheesecake w/graham wafer crust).
My cooking triumphs
Learning to make Turkey soup, Corn Chowder, stews, apple pie's and lasagna.
My cooking tragedies
Super-watery spaghetti sauce, burnt chowder, watery Shepard's Pie, turkey gravy with WAA-AY too much flour (actually, it was nothing but flour w/what appeared to be brown colouring.

Sirloin Tips and Mushrooms
Give this TWO THUMBS way up. I did tweak the recipe a bit. I omitted the red wine (didn't have any) and the salt and added 2 Tsp of China Lily soy sauce, 2 cans sliced mushrooms (no juice), 2-lb cubed beef (I love my red meat), 2 Tsp McCormicks Smokehouse Ground Black Pepper, 4 sliced celery stalks and 1 Green Pepper (mainly just because it was in the fridge and needed to be used). Last ingredient I added was 1 x 10oz can of Campbell's Tomato with Basil and Oregano soup. Wife says it's an instant family hit and to keep it handy as we'll be making it lots. Bon apetit.

Robbi's M&M's(R) Cookies
Recipe "as is" was an absolute hit. In my oven (as all ovens aren't created equally) took closer to 12-13 minutes to cook. I too, substituted butter for the shortening and taste no difference. Made them yesterday and not a cookie left in the house. Only thing I question is the "Servings". I followed the instructions to a "T" yet, there is no way I could could come out with 72 cookies. I was closer to 35-40. Aside from that, will be saving this and making it again. Well Done !!

Pasta Lasagna
Only thing I tweaked in this recipe is, I used 2% cottage cheese opposed to ricotta cheese. I'm sure either/or would have worked just fine. Fabulous. Quick and easy...same great taste. Another instant family favourite.
