This is the french bread I have been looking for! I make all my family's bread and for years I have been trying to get french bread to have those characteristic uneven holes in it, finally I have done it. As another reviewer suggested, I mixed the dough, waited 15 minutes and then added the salt and finished kneading. The dough was amazingly silky even with part whole wheat flour. One tip to get the beautiful cuts on your loaf is to hold a sharp knife parallel with the countertop and make long slashes lengthwise on the loaf, about 3 should do it. When it bakes the bread will kind of burst out of the slashes just like baguettes from those expensive bakeries. I also tried this dough to make hamburgers buns and they were delicious, soft and chewy. It made 8 nice sized buns. Thank you for the wonderful recipe!
