The Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
Best ever! Awesome. I added green onion sliced on top just before serving since I don't like them but the hubby does.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: May 28, 2013
AWESOME! First, I made the chicken exactly as directed THEN I read a few reviews. The chicken was in the oven cooking away (about 15 minutes) when I took it out, drained the juices into a small pot, and put the chicken back in the oven all alone. Into the marinade, I stirred the corn starch (mixed with a little water) to thicken it. My hubby likes spice more than me but I added a teaspoon of hot sauce just cause I love him. THEN, I pulled out the chicken, spooned on the thickened sauce and put it back into the oven for another 15 minutes to make sure it was fully cooked. SOOOO GOOD! Ate more than I should have. *smile*

Sweet and Smoky Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2013
I made this as directed with all the ingredients as listed. I, too, felt adding the ketchup after everything else was blended helped. The red pepper was a bit too spicy for me but exactly right for the hubby. Will definitely make this again and will half the red chile pepper.

As instructed, no changes. Came out perfect. Good tortilla flavor. I've always had trouble making tortillas before. You're my new best friend. *big grin*

Grilled Pepper Steak Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2013
I made this without the chipotle and vinegar (reason for the 4 stars instead of 5). Used jelapeno ranch instead. Served with garlic toast. Very good and will make again.

BLT Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2013
I make this salad all the time. Tonight I will be adding 2 hard boiled eggs along with peanuts on the side. Tastes just like a BLT sandwich without the carbs.

Corn Tortilla Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2013
I did the baking thing. Cut each tortilla into six wedges, sprinkled with sea salt and baked at 375 (350 in most other ovens) about 5 minutes. Crunchy and delicious!

Apple-Stuffed Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2013
I didn't have any raisins and I don't put onions in veggies. But I did everything else as listed. Very good and I will definitely make this again.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2013
I made this soup last night for dinner. A hit! I added 1/2 tsp of fresh-dried cilantro. Worked wonderfully. Like others have said, the recipe makes tons. I am freezing some for the rest of winter when I don't feel like cooking. Thanks!

A bit spicy for me; just right for hubby. Excellent flavor! My sis-in-law made Tomatillo Salsa and as another reviewer suggested salsa, I added hers. No other changes. Thanks!!

Even I liked this. I measure with my eyes and went exactly by the recipe except that I also fried patties in olive oil. Thanks!

Mawmaw's Simple Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
Wonderful! I think the ice water helped keep the tomatoes firm although the recipe didn't mention that. Awesome taste! I would have taken a picture but they were eaten too quickly.

Mashed Kohlrabi and Red Potato Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2012
I changed the ingredients slightly and adjusted the method. Slicing the potatoes and kohlrabi equally, I added the garlic and let cook while I browned German sausage in a cast iron skillet. Then I put the potato and kohlrabi mixture into the skillet, sliced the cooked sausage and put on top along with the cheese. Baked in a 350 degree oven for 1/2 hour. Delish!

Strawberry Chantilly

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
Awesome! I'd never made this sort of dessert before and was curious about beating the mixture 10 minutes but after ten minutes it became clear. (Nice, stiff mixture) As suggested by another reviewer, I also let the crust cool before adding the filling. Oh, yea, I didn't have nuts left after making Zucchini Bread so I left them out.

Roasted Kohlrabi

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
Simple and good. Served with pork steaks. Awesome! Generally, I treat Kohlrabi like they are potatoes. I used fresh out of my garden onions, zucchini, a flat round kind of squash and kohlrabi. Sliced all of it thinly, tossed in the mixture as directed, then I put the parmesan on after turning them over in the oven. Not crispy but very, very tasty. I was going to put them on the grill but decided to broil them instead - it's 90 degress out there. *smile*

Very good. I didn't add the milk (hence the 4 stars instead of 5) and it was still good.

Baked Fresh Cherry Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2012
Awsome! I really have never cared for cherry pie because it's usually sour. This one is fantastic. No tapioca in the house so I used corn starch as another reviewer suggested. I also set the pie pan with the bottom crust in the freezer about 10 minutes. No soggy crust! (I had no idea that would work so well) I did forget about the butter since this is the first cherry pie I've ever made. We have two cherry trees and I simply didn't want to waste any.
