Almond Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2012
I think the nutmeg gave them a slightly weird taste. May have been my nutmeg though... I think it was less than fresh. My brother really liked them though.

Cara's Moroccan Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
Amazing. I made it in the slow cooker and it turned out great! I didn't have coriander but it was not missed and I added two small chopped apples for some sweetness. Yum!

Pear Pie I

Amazing! This pie is always a favourite. The second time I made it I didn't have enough pears so I added some apples instead and it still tasted great.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
This is the best recipe method I have found for making bread without any white flour. I make all of my bread with 100% whole wheat flour and have found that letting the flour set with the water and the yeast for 15-30 minutes (15 when I use instant yeast) prevents the loaf from becoming too dry and crumbly. I have also made this recipe exactly (accept for substituting whole wheat flour for the bread flour) and it was a great one; very light and moist!

Quick and Easy Oatmeal Muffins

Good base recipe. Very basic though so I always add spices and/ or fruit.

Decadent Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
I cut the sugar in half because I don't like my muffins super sweet. They were delicious! (cream cheese icing is a nice addition but they were just as good without it.) I also had to substitute 2% milk and a teaspoon of vanilla for the vanilla yogurt because I didn't have any. I compensated for this substitution with some extra flour. This worked. :)

Squash Braid

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
Not a lot of noticeable squash flavour but very moist and delicious! I made it with all whole wheat flour (this is how I make all my bread) and it was great. Will make again.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
I like to add cinnamon and substitute coconut for the walnuts but I have made them according to the recipe as well and they are great either way! They also freeze well which is great since this recipes is for a rather large batch.

Cranberry Orange Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
I used dried cranberries because that is what I had. I also added a little yogurt to the batter because it seemed rather dry but I probably added too much since the loaves sank in the middle when cooling. UPDATE: I made these again and instead of adding yogurt I grated the peel off of two whole small oranges and then blended them (pith and all) with about 1/8 cup of water in place of the orange juice. I then blended the rest of the wet ingredients in with the oranges in the blender and then combined with the dry ingredients. The result was a moist and deliciously orangey loaf that did not sink. :)

Garlic and Herb Lamb

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
I had a lamb shoulder roast which was still half frozen so I cooked it covered in a casserole dish with a little water on 425 for 30 minutes and then on 375 for 1.5 hours. The result was a delicious juicy roast!

Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
tasted awesome! they didn't rise much before baking so they did not turn out as large as I had hopped. Also if you form "balls" like it says you will wind up with verry spherical buns. next time I will try making them more patty shaped so they will be bigger and fit the hamburgers better.

The Twenty Dollar Burger

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
verry flavour packed burger with a little kick. didn't have mustard, cilantro or chipoltle. I substituted parsley for the cilantro and added a pinch more cayanne and a pinch of dried chilies to make up for no chipoltle. they were delicious and pretty easy too.

Boiled Bagels

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
pretty good, a few minor problems though: 1. they were really hard not to burn and still cook all the way through! 2.they were a little on the salty side. 3. they were not quite as puffy as I had hoped but that may be my own fault. (I had to try to figure out how much yeast to use based on measurement not weight/packets because my yeast was in bulk. this was a tricky task which in the end I used 1 heaping tablespoon of instant yeast. next time I will maybe use more?)I was glad I followed other reviewers tips and let them rise for 30 minutes otherwise they probly would have been a total flop. but overall not Bad, and I give the recipe grace since It was my forst time with bagels.

Exquisite Yeastless Focaccia

Reviewed: May 3, 2008
excelent base and sooo easy! top it any way you want, I used finely choped green onion, thym, sage, oregano, garlic powder, basil, cayene, grated marble cheese and lots of rosemary. It came out perfect! It also makes a good pizza crust if you stretch it out over a large round pan, then top it with sauce, cheese and whatever your heart desires! I have made it both ways many times, with many variations, always a hit!

used one can condensed cream of chicken soup instead of heavy creme and milk instead of chicken broth. Popular with my family. It's delicious.
