Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2013
I made this for my Marine son when he was home to visit. He, my husband and myself absolutely loved it! I sent the leftovers back to base with my son and then had to make again a few days later for my husband because he wanted more! My husband has never really liked macaroni salad before! Also, my son and his finace have requested that I make it for their wedding reception. I think it says it all! YES, its a keeper!

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2013
I love this recipe! I doubled the gravy and the only thing I did different was subsitute the cooking sherry for 1/2 apple cider vinegar 1/2 water to equal the measurement of sherry. Oh, and I added a little black pepper to the gravy. I put mashed potatoes and green beans with it. What a great comfort dinner. My family loved it and said it was definite keeper!

Bulk Venison Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
Love this recipe! My husband brought home about 20 pounds of ground venison and we both wanted it made into sausage. I only made a couple small changes. I added 1 tsp. onion powder and 1 tsp. fennel seeds. The recipe would be great without them but I love my fennel. I think it's a bit spicy which is fine by me but I think I will cut the peppers in half for a mild version for my son. Thanks for the recipe. I'm making venison sausage gravy and biscuits tonight. Mmmmm!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
Great recipe! I did change a couple small things. I used both breasts and thighs plus I made my dumplings from Bisquik. My family loved it and I will definitely be making this again. Oh, I wanted to add that I have found out from past experience that if you want a really fluffy drop dumpling you have to get the liquid to a rolling boil before dropping the dumplings.

This was such an easy base recipe. I did change it little. I used both skinless boneless breasts and thighs plus I made the dumplings from Bisquik. The whole family loved it. Will definitely make again.

I love this recipe! It is exactly like the one my mother used to make. I just don't use the cheese. I have made this several times and will make over and over again!

Extra Special Banana Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
I have made this four times already! My family loves, loves, loves, it! My husband says it is the only pudding dessert that he really likes. The crunchy crust and topping is what makes this so special and it is so easy to make. Making another pan today. Thanks for a great recipe, VJANE!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
First, let me say that potato soup is my favorite kind of soup. I have been looking for the perfect recipe for a long time. Found it!! This was Heaven In A Bowl! Everyone ate seconds except my 7 year who doesn't like soup but even he ate a whole bowl and never complained. He actually said it was really good! I only made a few minor changes. I used two 15 oz. cans of chicken broth instead of the water and bouillon, added 1/3 cup chopped carrot and 1 tsp. dried parsley flakes. Other than that I did everything to the recipe. Ellie, your potato soup is the BOMB and thanks for sharing! :-)

Fresh Strawberry Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
I made this for one of my Easter desserts. It was very moist and the taste was great. I do agree with the previous review that the cake was not all that attractive. But since the family really loved it I will definitely be making it again.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2011
This was very good. My whole family loved it. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because it was a bit sweet for me. I had to add a bit more mustard to cut the sweetness. Other than that it was great! I will definitely be making it again.

These are very good. Will look no further. I like that there is no brown sugar so the cookies stay white.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
This is a great Italian soup. I would have given it more stars if I could. I did make a few changes but not because it needed it. My son really likes pasta so... I only used one zucchini, I added one more can of broth and added 1 cup of uncooked ditalini pasta. It was a huge success with my family. My husband told me several times how good it was. I will definitely be making this again and again. Thanks for a great soup recipe!

I cannot say enough good things about these muffins! These are by far the BEST muffins I have ever eaten or made. I only did one thing different...I used 2 cups of chopped apples. My whole family loved these. I don't think they will last long. Thanks for the GREAT recipe. I will be making these again and again.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2010
I made this yesterday and it was soooo yummy. I only gave it 4 stars because I thought the water would have made it too runny. I only made a few changes. I didn't use the water, baking soda or baking powder (was out of baking soda). I also added a 1/2 tsp. nutmeg to the sugar mixture (love nutmeg) and a dash of cinnamon to the crumb mixture. I just had some leftovers a few minutes ago and the crumb topping is still nice and crunchy. My whole family really loved this and I will definitely be making this again and again.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
I loved this...my whole family did. I am not big on dry mac-n-cheese. This one was so nice and creamy. I didn't find it runny at all..just perfect. I only made one small change. I used Monterey Jack cheese in place of the American because I had some I needed use. It was great...a definite keeper.

Crispy Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2010
I have been trying for years to make "CRISPY" fried chicken and was never able to until NOW!! This technique is the best!! And like she said it is all to your own taste when you spice up the flour but it is all in the technique and following directions to get it really nice and crispy. Thank you soooo much!
