Sweet Potato Casserole VI

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2013
Sooo good! I followed the recipe exactly. Don't need to make any changes. I made it for Thanksgiving and lots of people that hate sweet potatoes loved this! My father-in-law makes a recipe similar but with butternut squash. I love it and will make it every Thanksgiving. I hate usual Thanksgiving sweet potatoes but love this. Almost like a dessert or a pie. Thanks for the recipe!

Cranberry Sauce

Turned out great! All I added was a dash of lemon juice also, and followed everything else. Thanks for the recipe!

Bechamel Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2012
Yum! I followed another reviewer's suggestion and used 2 cups of milk and a boullion cube instead of the chicken broth and half and half. Made mine on the stovetop. Didn't have thyme, so I used a dash of Italian seasoning. Used onion powder instead of grated onion. Served it on butternut squash ravioli I bought from Costco. Turned out really well! My husband loved it. Tasted just like Lean Cuisine butternut squash ravioli I love. Coulda used some chopped up walnuts in it & it would have been exactly the same. Thanks for the recipe. Will definitely make again!

Mozzarella Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
Really good recipe, but a little too much wine in it. I made half with chicken broth and half with wine (separately) because I was cooking for people that don't drink wine. I actually liked the chicken broth one a little better. I think next time I'll make it with a mix of chicken broth and wine.. that would taste best. I had to use shredded cheese.. which was a little too messy. Next time I'll buy the cheese slices like it said to. Thanks for the recipe!

Foolproof Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Not a usual fudge but it was really good. I like it better than fudge with Marshmallow creme actually.. it was almost like a caramel. Tasted really good, and is a good recipe.

Gooey Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Sooo good! I'm from St Louis, and it tastes just like the gooey butter cake here. I love these. I think if people were having too many problems with sticky dough they need to make sure not to melt the butter when you are making them. I microwaved the butter just a couple seconds so it wouldn't be so frozen, but don't melt it at all or you will have dough that is too sticky. Mine came out perfectly. I was concerned when I didn't add any powdered sugar to the batter cause all the gooey butter cake recipes I've read do that, but it does not need it! Just rolling them in it is enough, and these are some RICH cookies. But so is gooey butter cake. If you don't like rich, don't make them. I baked them 11 minutes and they came out perfectly. I agree.. don't overbake or they won't be just slightly gooey.. and that's what makes them great!

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Really great! Didn't know it was so easy to make sauce this good. Tastes just like my grandma's sauce she puts on her strawberry cheescake blondie. Thanks for the recipe. Will definitely be using this often!

Black Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
The best from scratch chocolate recipe I've found! I loved that it was dark and it was kinda fudgey. I used milk instead of water, didn't have shortening so used oil (just a little less), and added about 1/3 cup of melted semisweet chocolate chips just to make it a little more chocolatey. My in-laws, husband, and I loved it. Thanks for the recipe!

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
I thought it was perfectly fine the way the recipe was. I had no problems with blueberries sinking to the bottom, but I did use fresh blueberries. (I'm thinking maybe they people that had problems with them sinking used frozen blueberries). I did have to cook it for longer.. about 50-55 minutes or so. I made the vanilla glaze from this website to put on top, but I'm not sure it really needed it. Maybe just some powdered sugar on the top to make it pretty like someone else suggested.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2010
Good idea. Thanks for the recipe. My husband and I loved it. I used a little less hot sauce and then just added more on it right when we put it on the bread. I also used Frank's hot sauce. We used to mix that with butter for chicken wings, so this tasted just like that.

Plain Cake Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
Good donuts. Maybe a little better without so much cinnamon. I'd probably just put a dash of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg in them. The spices became a little too overpowering (I liked them, but my kids didn't as much). The rest of it turned out great. I used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 all purpose flour.

Shiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
Very good! Especially on donuts. Sets up perfectly. Perfect consistency and the taste was great. This would be great on a bundt cake too. My kids loved it. I used 8 oz of semisweet chocolate chips instead of the bittersweet chocolate squares. Thanks for the recipe!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Good muffins! I added 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and 1/4 tsp of nutmeg and a teaspoon of vanilla like other reviewers, cut the amount of butter and used 1/4 c of applesauce instead for lower fat muffins like another user suggested. Didn't have any brown sugar or I would have used part brown sugar instead of all granulated sugar.. but I added a little bit of molasses (a little less than 1/8 cup) and that made these really good! Guess I changed a lot, but they turned out awesome. Added some chocolate chips and made mini muffins, and my husband and toddler loved them! It was a good way to get my son to eat some bananas.

Poor Man's Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
This was really good! I thought it was a great idea to use rolled oats instead of pecans because pecans are so expensive. The top tasted a lot like granola. I thought the middle part did taste just like pecan pie and the oats on top are really good. Only change I made was I used light corn syrup like other reviewers suggested and I used half granulated sugar and half brown sugar (which I always do for my pecan pie). I made it in a smaller pie pan (so I halved everything) and I cooked it 40 minutes and it was done. I think if you made the recipe in a full pie pan it definitely would need more time than that since it would be thicker, and you'd have more filling. I found that if when you are baking it and the filling moves a whole lot because it is very liquidy in the middle, then it is not done. It usually is done when it moves just a little when you shake it (like jello). I did not think that this should have received a lower rating because someone cooked it incorrectly. All ovens cook differently, so you have to figure out on your own when it looks done. Thanks so much for the recipe. I will make it again! (I was testing it out for a fall festival and am going to make another one in a couple days.)

Flourless Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
Followed the directions exactly except used a chocolate bar. Turned out perfectly. Though, next time I may put parchment paper on the bottom so it won't stick (still stuck a little bit with grease and cocoa powder. Very chocolatey and very good! Made a satiny chocolate glaze by Ginger from this site and it went perfectly.

Best Ever Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
I made these as mini muffins with 1 c. chocolate chips and cooked them for 12 1/2 minutes. They were ok. I wouldn't say the best ever though. A recipe I made in home ec in middle school actually was a little better. Guess I will just stick with that one until I find a better one.
