I work in Morris. I have a 18 year-old son graduating this year. My husband and I have been married since 1982 (to each other!) I'm a terrible cook, but am willing to try anything once.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta. You can't hardly mess that up!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have any traditions. I'm German; my husband Norwegian. I don't like sauerkraut or lutefisk. He loves lutefisk, but I refuse to have that smell in the house.
My cooking triumphs
My triumphs are few and far between. I make anything with typical ingredients. Most of the time I don't even know where to find the weird ingredients in the grocery store. Some of them I've never even heard of...
My cooking tragedies
I made big soft ginger cookies. Or so I thought. I got the recipe from my sister. They were fabulous when I tried them at her house. The first batch stayed way to sticky to handle. I added more flour until I could form the round balls. Finally got them on the cookie sheet. Baked them just like the recipe said. They were horribly hard; light in color; and never spread out. I made three batches before I realized it wasn't me. I called my sister just to "verify" what exactly was in the recipe. I guess my sister forgot to include one minor ingredient: soda!!!
