High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2014
I don't know if it didn't work for me because my house is cold so the oven temp didn't stay hot after it was shut off or what but this isn't for me. I'm glad it worked so well for others.

Crescent Layer Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
I made these for Thanksgiving and ended up bringing almost the whole pan back. Only 4 got eaten. The sweetened condensed milk stayed runny and the crescent rolls just didn't work with this in my opinion. I much prefer the 7 layer cookie.

Super BLT

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
I used Brownberry Health Nut whole grain bread to toast...delicious and healthy. The sandwich didn't taste a lot different to me than any other BLT since I couldn't really taste the guacamole and I often put cream cheese on a sandwich so that was no different. Next time I'll try more guac and see if that brings out the flavor. It was quite delicious as is any BLT.

BREAKSTONE'S Classic Cheesy Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
I've been making this for years. For more flavor though I use O'brien potatoes in the freezer section of the grocery store. They already have peppers and onions in them. For a vegetarian version use cream of mushroom soup. This is a family favorite and a popular potluck dish.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
My mom taught me how to make this back in the 60's. Then along came the microwave and made it much simpler. I put my popcorn and peanuts in a doubled brown paper grocery sack. When the caramel is cooked, I pour it in on top of the popcorn, use my long-handled wooden spoon to stir it into the popcorn, roll down the top of the sack and put it in the microwave. For my microwave, which is 1300 watts, I microwaved the mixture 2 minutes on high, stirred it and microwaved another 2 minutes. This time I just shook the sacks real well (using mitts so as not to get burnt on the hot sacks), put them back in the microwave for 1 minute. Then I just dumped the whole mess onto a clean, cut open to lay flat, brown grocery sack. When it was cool it came off the sack perfectly. One caution....don't microwave too long or it will burn but every microwave is a little different, especially if it is lower wattage so it may take a little longer.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
It's certainly tasty but it's too much like a salad I make. Just add sliced bananas, crushed pineapple, and strawberries and you have a delicious salad called champaign salad. I can't remove myself from that. I'd like a recipe for whipped cream frosting without cream cheese I guess. Still, it tastes delicious.

Pumpkin Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
I think these are everything they are supposed to be but I am not a fan of spice cake and that is what they tasted like to me. I detected no pumpkin flavor even after they cooled. They are easy to make, light and almost delicate. The cream cheese filling was nice. I just didn't like the flavor but I'm sure there are many, many people who do.

Sausage and Apple Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
In step 2 it tells you what to do with the apples. You add to the mixture.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
I followed the recipe as written and it tasted great. I chilled the beaters and bowl first to make sure it whipped up well. It was easy and quick but the reason I gave it a 4 is because it was out of the refrig a few hours and did not hold up well at all. The weather was cool, too, so that wasn't the problem. It just needs refrigeration.

Hawaiian Wedding Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
This was good but I think it needs fresh pineapple instead of the tinny taste of canned. Also, for those not wanting the cherries to bleed on the cake, just rinse them well with water and put them on a lint-free absorbent cloth. Gently pat them dry and they won't leave leave that red coloring.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
I was disappointed in this. It sounded so good and got good reviews but, to me, it was just a gooey ball with a coating. My husband did like it, however, and he doesn't like many sweets.
