I've been cooking since I was 8 or so. I started out with cake mixes and cookie recipes at that time. Since then I think I have come a long way. So far I haven't had too many complaints and I am one of the pickiest people I know when I eat out. I try to apply that to the items I purchase when cooking. Good ingredients, even distribution of those ingredients and consistancy I feel are key to making a good meal.
My favorite things to cook
Love Italian, Mexican and American classics. One thing I would like to conquer is a great pasta sauce.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and grandmother mostly taught me how to cook. It seems like I spent most of my time at my grandmother's house in the kitchen. I love putting together large family meals, especially now that I am a "Nanna."
My cooking triumphs
Usually its holiday meals that make my family happy and full.
My cooking tragedies
Ahh, the one that immediately comes to mind is the first time I made Thanksgiving dinner. I was pregnant(mood swings included) with my daughter at the time and it was the first time I hosted dinner at my apartment with my family, the first time they met my fiance, and we broke the news that I was expecting. The turkey was over stuffed, and dried out because it was overstuffed and I forgot about the giblet bag. I was in tears by then because I wanted everything done perfectly. While it didn't seem very funny at the time, every Thanksgiving my family and I laugh about that day.
