Broiled Asparagus Parmesan

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
This was SO good! I eyeballed the measurements, and it was super quick and easy to make. The only change I made was adding a sprinkle of sea salt. This recipe will be going into regular rotation for sure!

Italian Nachos Restaurant-Style

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
I have a similar recipe I use for Old Chicago's style Italian nachos. Here are my alterations: I make my own chips by cutting up pita bread into nacho sized triangles and lightly toasting them. Regular tortilla chips are a bit too salty with the salt from the meats. I also serve the marinara sauce on the side for dipping, and seed and slice the pepperoncinis before adding them. If you love cheese (and who doesn't?) you can grate some parmesan over it too once it's done baking.

Ramen Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
I hate to lower the score for this recipe, but I just didn't care for it. My husband liked it though after dousing it with Italian dressing. To me it was just too plain tasting, and it was too sweet. I only did 2 tbsp. sugar hoping that it wouldn't be that sweet but it was still too much for my taste. I also used toasted pine nuts instead of sunflower seeds, toasted the ramen, and added green onion. This still is missing something though.

German-Style Pickled Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
This was a little different than I expected. The eggs were sweet like bread and butter pickles. I would have liked this much better if it wasn't so sweet, plus it's a lot of work!

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
Wow! This is sooooo good! I never liked meatloaf before trying this recipe, but now I think it will become a regular dinner staple. My husband also loved it! The cheese and the steak sauce make all the difference. I made a few tweaks myself: I used crushed Cheez-its crackers instead of Ritz type crackers, and I used a cup of cheese instead of 3/4 cup. I used about 1 1/2 tbsp. onion flakes and 1/2 tsp. of sage, and basil instead of the dry onion soup mix since I didn't have any, also a few grinds of salt and pepper. The glaze suggested by Kinz really made this meatloaf outstanding too, I highly recommend it. I doubled the worcestershire, and cut the honey in half though since my husband doesn't like anything sweet with meat, and it wasn't sweet at all. This recipe is a keeper for sure! Thank you for sharing it! -Louise

Coconut Cream Cake I

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
This has become my new favorite cake! I've made it a few times now, and the only thing I did differently was toasting half of the shredded coconut, I think it makes the cake look nice, and by only doing half it makes it so it's not too crispy. This is always a hit whenever I serve it, and it's really easy to make. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
I halved this recipe and used it for a turkey breast since it was just 2 of us eating it, and it was the best turkey I've ever had! I was impressed by how juicy the meat was the most. I'll be using this recipe for many thanksgivings to come!
