About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy trying new recipes in my slow cooker. I also like to try new ways to cook vegatables. I enjoy eating healthy but I love cooking desserts too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love Thanksgiving when everyone brings a dish. We always have the favorites but then some new ones every year.
My cooking tragedies
One time I forgot to add the right amount of flour to the my cookie recipe and they were very flat.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip
I love this recipe in my crockpot. I leave out the beer and add mushrooms and sliced onions. I serve it with provolone cheese under the broiler with a horseradish mayo sauce on the hoagie rolls.

Best Ever Pie Crust
This recipe was ok. For some reason my pie crust didn't need all the shortening. I probably only used 3/4 of it. I chilled everything including the forks and I let the dough chill in the fridge for about 6 hours. When I was rolling it the crust seemed a little too moist still and I did have some problems with it tearing and falling apart. It did taste great though and baked up very nice. Much nicer than I expected considering it kept breaking. I might try this again with even a little less water. It could have been because it is so humid here though. Thanks!

Sweet Potato Pie II
This is a delicious pie as it was my first sweet potato pie I've ever made. However it does require a longer time in the oven which is why I gave it fours stars. Also it is very important to FOLD in the pie mixture with the whites/sugar. It makes it fluffy. I Let mine cool and placed it in the fridge to set and served it with whip cream. It has such a nice taste as I am not fond of pumpkin pie. Also, I did use canned sweet potatoes.
